Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jon Stewart

I've watched Stewart on and off over the years and I just don't get all the hype. His idea of comedy is watching a video clip of a politician making an ass out of himself, and then staring incredulously into the camera and dropping an f-bomb. That's funny? A kid in junior high can do that.

      Goodbye.
Perhaps the OP just wants to reach out for some sense of community.

I agree I never understood it either but we seem to be the minority here.

Yes, you are the minority when you are on the Jon Stewart IMDB board.
            Who'da thunk it?

Yep. Loved the Colbert Report and miss it like crazy, but I've never understood the hype behind Jon Stewart. Just never found him funny and I consider it to be an issue of delivery/presentation. I mostly lean to the left so I'm generally agreeing with what's being said, but Stewart himself is not funny. His whole schtick is essentially talking in funny voices and yelling incredulously over the clip that was shown. I wonder how much of his popularity/reputation is due to media and viewers' disdain for the right and the fact that the entire show is about mocking them. But Stewart himself is not a funny man. If he ever got on stage and did some basic stand-up that wasn't about making fun of a party, I'm certain the majority wouldn't consider him talented at all.

LOL. You might want to look into his history.

Wow, someone actually said that. Does anyone do any research before running their mouths anymore? I mean, we have all the answers at our fingertips, how is anyone ever wrong about anything anymore?
