Someone here alleges that she performed at an Al Gore fundraiser in 2000. Is that true? -

I cannot comment on the Al Gore issue, but Rush was right about Donna being a Christian and that's about it! I DO know however that Donna performed at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2009 the year they honored Barack Obama, there is youtube video of that performance. At the end of Last Dance she thanks Obama and his family. Also Barack and Michelle Obama released a special statement the day of her death saying, "Michelle and I were saddened to hear about the passing of Donna Summer. A five-time Grammy Award winner, Donna truly was the 'Queen of Disco.' Her voice was unforgettable, and the music industry has lost a legend far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donna's family and her dedicated fans."
I also take issue with Rush's claim she hated the music on radio today. Her last recording (that was released) was a Hip-Hop song called Angel with rapper Omega Red. After becoming born again in 1980 she did for a while drop Love To Love You Baby from her live shows, but by the late 90's she was performing it again (though without all the moaning!). On her last album she worked with Danielle Brisebois (famous as little Stephanie from All In The Family), who worked with Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Sohpie Ellis-Bexter, Paula Abdul and Kylie Minogue. All very current artists and hardly people on the playlists of the Republican party! Danielle's collaborator Gregg Alexander (who also worked with Donna on Crayons) debut cd was called "Intoxifornication" Most recently Danielle wrote a song with Gregg called "Forward" for Obama's re-election campaign!
So ONCE again Rush Limbaugh really doesn't know what he is talking about! -

Yes he is, but I only pointed out the fact that she contributed to his Hip/Hop track in response to the claim she didn't like the current music styles. In fact I believe she even dabbled in a bit of Rap herself on Fame (The Game) and even back in 1991 on the track When Love Cries.

When she died, she was living in Naples, Florida. Now I've never been to Florida myself, but I heard Naples is one of the most conservative cities there. Not that it means anything, though, just something I wanted to point out.
Also, did taxes have anything to do with why she left for Nashville and Naples? Before, she used to live here in Los Angeles.
Maybe she was liberal politically wise, but conservative fiscal wise? -

I believe Nashville was her permanent home (she moved there in '95 I believe) and Naples FL was her 'vacation' home..from what I read. Her Naples home was sold earlier this yearright around the anniversary of her death.
