I just saw with out a paddle today and I recognized him from remember the titans. He has lost a lot of weight. Good Job dude. My friend worked with him on the remember the titans movie in Georgia and said he was a real jerk, because he thought he was hot stuff but there alot of people like that in hollywood. anyways just wanted to say he was pretty funny in with out a paddle even if he is mean.

I think sometimes people expect too much of celebrities, in the sense that, becaues they're famous we think that we can approach them at any time and chat with them as though we knew each other. I can only imagine that that could be very irritating at times, I'm a fairly shy person, so that would put me off, I think Either way, he's very good at what he does, and since my chances of meeting him are pretty slim, I guess it doesn't really affect me one way or the other though I must agree with Thonolan in saying that he seems like a decent g5b4uy in interviews etc

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you meando you mean that you dislik5b4e my screen-name and that makes you question my opinions more so, than you would simply based on what I'm saying?
Not to be contentious, here, but the name is rather tongue-in-cheek if you knew me
I'm just trying to understand the statement is all, rather strange really -

sigh
It would seem I have to explain the phrase 'tongue in cheek' to some unfortunate peopleI stand by my original assertion, however, that I am unsure how a screen name should have any bearing on one's opinion, but here goesin brief:
I am a graduate student and during a recent discussion of the bpm's of a particular soundtrack my professor made the joking comment: "well aren't you just the little punk rocker" to methis was amusing given that I don't particularily have an affinity for punk music, nor do I .to borrow the phrase "dress the part." It was only in reference to this discussion that I chose the monikerI signed up shortly after that particular classit seemed funny to me. I was unaware that such an offhand choice would offend such high brow individuals as our justinlesamiz or puppetastic- who have yet to contribute anything to the discussion at hand
Now please explain to me how justinlesamiz or puppetastic is particularily original or comical by contrastgive ME a break little boy I don't care if you call yourself monkeyballsyou still haven't made an interesting point.

Haha, wow.
How people react to your user name is immature, and does not show any rationality. I mean, look at my user nameare people going to look down upon my name because it seems immature??? I just put two of my favorite bands at the time (The Strokes and The Vines) into a funny little phrase.
Anyways, about Ethan.
I have not seen Without a Paddle, but now I want to. I have enjoyed a lot of the films Ethan has been in; the Kevin Smith movies (Mallrats, Chasing Amy, etc.), American History X, Blow, and I just got finished watching The Butterfly Effect. I used to love him as the cronie on Boy Meets World also.
I'm sure most actors/actresses do not like people approaching them constantly. That is why some don't go out in public often without something to hide their identity. Ethan, to me, seems like a decent guy though. -

Yeah - the name stuff was pretty unexpected-
he was awesome in The Butterfly Effect- I wish goth-boys at my Uni were that interesting :)And cute, I actually didn't totally LOVE the movie- but he was excellent in it
I always wonder how annoying the whole fame thing might be, I mean on the one hand- they've got all sorts of cash (which, let's face it, is pretty much equivalent to all sorts of power in our particular society) but on the other hand, they really don't have any privacy
I'm tempted to say I'd take the cash and damn the privacy but maybe that's because I've always been poor
He seems very shy in any interview I've seen him in -

a few of you have noted that actors make all this money and what they want is the money not the fame(for some of them). Well in reality most and when i say most i mean like 80% of all actors dont make beep for money. There are some that beep loads of money, but a lot of actors have to hold second jobs just to pay rent. My brother is in the movie buisness (he even has his own page on IMDB), most of the actors that non-famous people meet are the ones like suplee have spent most of their careers doing bit parts, playing some memorable characters, but didnt make beep really know if ethan has made a lot of money or not). Most actors act because they love it not because they are looking for a payday. Or at least it starts out that way, some of todays actors make me wonder if they are just showing up for a paycheck.

I know nothing about this guy, he may be a jerk, he may be nice. But actresses and actors should remember that their fan base is why they are famous. Fans are in some ways like "customers". If I went into Wal-Mart and the cashier told me to f off- yes I would be pissed- same goes for celebrities- they are doing a job- that is it-! If fans stop watching their movies because the actor/actress have a bad attitude- well, then they got what they deserved. They pick this profession, and then do not want people to recognize them well then they should have just taken the job at Taco Bell.
I agree that fans should not bother people in the bathroom, at dinner, at the doctor etc- and autographs- well that is a little hokey, but if this guy was working on a set and acted like an ass to people that recognized him and wanted to say hi- well then he just needs to get over himself- (this is strictly hypothetical of course)- he may be a great guy altogether! -

Back to the origianal topic, I was watching the commentary for 'Without a Paddle', and he doesn't really talk a lot, and he seems kinda reserved (It's a video commentary, so you can see the guys)maybe he's just a little shy. I am, and since I don't seem friendly to a lot of people, they assume I'm stuck up and that I think I'm better than everybody else. Not true at all, but I can't tell you how many times my friends have said they thought I was a real witch before they got to know me, just because I was acting that way and it was mistaken for attitude.

Yeah- that's very true, I'm sort of shy as well- I have trouble maintaining eye contact with people when I first meet them, and I've also been told that some people think this means I'm being rude. In actuality it's just shyness, but it gets misinterpreted.
Is the commentary on the DVD extras jlnyy? -

i better make this quick because I don't want justin or puppytaser on my ass about my screen name lol. Anyway back to the topic Ethan Supleehe seems like a really cool guy to be around. I want to be a screenwriter and I would be more than happy to write parts for him. And everyone can be jerks sometimes that's just what humans do. Maybe he was having a bad day or something who knows. well that's my 2 cense.

I disagree. The celebrities have no right to be jerks to their fans. Their fans made them. Without their fans they'd be flipping burgers or something. They wouldn't be rich and screwing supermodels. I'm not saying that the celebrity should act like their best friend but at least sign an autograph or take 5b4a picture. I've met lots of celebrities most have been decent, the only real jerk I've met is David Carradine. Colin Farrell is probably the nicest and most famous celebrity I've met. He was actually humble and appreciative for fans the way a celebrity should be I didn't ask to be his best friend or act like I knew him. I actually called him Mr. Farrell and he was like "No, Colin".

I have found that quite often, people expect fat people to have low self esteem. If they show any sign of confidence, they're seen in a bad light and it's thought "how dare them." Kind of like when you see a short man act aggressive and they're automatically assumed to have Napoleon syndrome, when they're just an angry, short man.
