YOu obviously haven't seen "all" her characters. Ever watch The Miracle Worker. Brilliant performance of a loving mother.

She played tough characters who didn't necessarily back down. I've always loved the characters she's played, and she did accents brilliantly. I grew up watching Benson back in the 70s and 80s, and it wasn't until I was nearly grown that I found out she isn't German. I always thought she was. And that character is perhaps my favorite out of the ones she's portrayed, but that's likely because that's the character I'm most familiar with.
