"over a dog" could imply a number of different scenarios. Was he killed because he was seen torturing a dog with a fire igniter? No. Was he killed because he was starving his dog to death? No. In this case, it was about lost reward money.
So you should be more specific there. There are plenty of justifiable and judicious reasons to kill someone over a dog. Your blanket statement implies anytime a dog is involved, it's not a good reason.
"Killed over reward money" would have been more accurate.
Switzer later became a dog breeder and hunting guide.
And by the way, he deserved his death. Think of how many lives were saved that he would have shot dead, if he hadn't died.
