Why are so many of us finding out about this 10 years later????

I was watching Family Matters on Nick at Night today and my mom was trying to remember things about the show. (She didn't remember it well.) She was talking about how she didn't think that Steve ended up with Laura because there was some other girl. And then she was like "Oh..but she died." I was shocked. Myra was my favorite character, the actress was so adorable. I thought maybe she was misremembering or something (she really didn't remember much about the series..she thought it aired in the 70s!)
I came here just now and saw that it was true. I'm heartbroken. That's so terrible.

I'm shocked so many people only learned about this recently. I remember hearing about her death the same week that it happened. It hit home for me because I'd enjoyed her work on both The Cosby Show & Family Matters, plus I had one of those ridiculous TV crushes on her when I was younger.

I never knew until today. When black actors/actresses die there isn't much talk I literally found out about Lee Thompson Young a few weeks ago.
