I know from different websites including this one that they refer to Malcolm Jamar Warner as her former boyfriend. But wonder if they may have been involved (relationship wise) when she passed away or were they just friends by then as some of these tabloid sites state?

They were still really good friends when she passed, but they were not together. They were very close.

also Malcolm was there for michelle when she was fighting cancer and when she died he was really heartbroken I forgot where heard the story from

I think they had broken up, but were still good friends. At least that's what I heard somewhere years ago. And in the same thing I also heard that Malcolm was there by her side when she passed away.

They met when she started having roles on the Cosby show as Justine Phillips, Theo's girlfriend. When she passed away they were an item. After she sorrowfully passed he then later started dating and now married to Karen White who played Charmaine Brown on a Different World and had some roles on the Cosby Show as the same character. That comment had been displayed in 1999 in Jet or Ebony somewheres!
