"Uncommon Valor"- Vietnam vet chopper pilot helping Gene Hackman rescue
"Prime Time Murder"- a mentally-unbalanced homeless ex-cop helping a freelance cameraman
"Air America"- One of the wild & wooley flyboys (he's in it more than his billing suggests)
"Rhinestone"- His scenes with Stallone are hilarious
"Trancers"- Nails the dead-pan noir private detective in a trench-coat role to a t (just ask Leonard Maltin)
"Cherry 2000"- Psycho baddie with comedic overtones.
"Metalstorm"- As a washed-up hero who helps out the hero
"Fade to Black"- a coke-snorting police psychologist
"Sasquatch Mountain"- a su5b4rvivalist hunting bigfoot, small but rewarding role
"Gale Force"- Rare supporting heroic role
There are many other fine performances buried in that massive filmography, to say nothing of his TV-work, much of which is unavailable on DVD or VHS. Agree or disagree on this list?

Doesn't anyone else remember his performance as the Veterinarian father of Adrian Pasdar in "Near Dark"? Very somber performance that helps keep the suspension of disbelief. Then there's his comic performance opposite Robert Patrick in "Hong Kong '97". The sheer versatility of this impressionist/stand-up comic/actor is the real reason he's known as "The King of the B's"

"Hong Kong '97" comes up short for me, due to his limited screen time. It's more the late Brion James' show. I'm glad you mentioned "Near Dark", no-one seems to remember him in this. I feel the film is over-rated, great supporting cast with Paxton, Thomerson, Jeanette Goldstein & Lance Henrikson. Good point, his grounded-in-reality performance balances out aspects of the film. But he has precious little screen time. I was trying to figure the over-all quality of the film in with the, er "top ten" list, jeez can't believe I called it a "top 5 list", just too many to list really.

Nice job! I have his demo reel from Innovative Artists (talent agency) kicking around somewhere. I met him & he was pretty much as cool as I imagined him to be, as is often the case when you're not introduced as a fan.

"Volunteers" is the superior John Candy/Tim Thomerson teaming! "Crumb" is silly fun, but Thomerson is peripheral, playing a dim personal trainer turned criminal in cahoots with Annie Potts. Think his only good line is when his beeper goes off, "Just like a doctor, always on call". And Annie Potts looks at him disgusted. He had nothing to work with, but that line is hilarious.
