Why did they kill her character on Arrow? I'm so heartbroken and the show seems to have lost that something special. No joke, I felt like it was my mother that it happened to. Does anyone have any information? Thanks.

They wanted to raise the stakes. As a show, you have to take certain risks, do something unpredictable that catches everyone off-guard. That is what differentiates a good and a great show.
I read an interview of the producer back then. He raised the points I mentioned b2000efore. He also said that they wanted to give a drive to Oliver and Thea, something that would affect their characters. For Oliver it was till the end of season. For Thea, the pain would make her do something that would be a major part of her character development in the next season. And that was indeed what happened.

Hey no problem dude. It was really hard on me too, when she died. It was an incredibly emotional scene.
