    *Comic Book Movies.
Irritu once called superhero and comic based films "cultural cancer" and his film Birdman is pretty anti-mega blockbuster in general and anti-superhero films in particular. Del Toro has not only made comic based films( Hellboy and Blade do count as "superheroes" just not in the more traditional sense if you want to get technical) and is obviously a massive collector and long time devoted reader of the medium those films are based upon, so given Irritu's statements what exactly are Del Toro's thoughts? They are111c very close friends after all, so I'm really curious if he agrees with him or not.
