Wow. Apparently, Dylan Roof has Internet access in a South Carolina jail.

Another point I forgot to add was that Denise married a dark-skinned black guy back in '94, '95 (some NFL player for the Raiders at the time) which further makes this topic null and void! She was no self hating racist and black dudes have alwaysbeen fascinated by her.

But as I already stated, this happened AFTER her career declined. When she was hot in her career she became engaged to Nikki Sixx, a white bass player for the rock group "Motley Crue." But when that relationship, along with her career, fell apart, she married the guy you're referring to, but it was only after she hit bottom. -

That's the stupidest, most knuckleheaded statement I've ever heard in my life. Vanity calls her father a gorilla and because of it her career is destroyed?! Are you beeping kidding me? Muhammad Ali used to call Joe Frazier a gorilla all the time. Worked out okay for him. Instead of picking on Vanity, why don't you go over to the Muhammad Ali boards and call him a racist? I guess you idolize him a little more than you do Vanity. Hypocrite.
Entertainers put their foots in their mouths all the time. Ever heard of Kanye West? What about Jane Fonda's remarks during the Vietnam war? After those remarks she won an Academy Award! The decline of Vanity's career had nothing to do with no silly remark on The Joan Rivers show. No, Vanity's lack of talent and the fact that she was a full blown crack addict was her problem.
You know, it's knuckleheads like you who keep racism alive by calling anything, or anyone racist for ANY reason! Your perpetual quest for racism red flags is sickening! -

Well, well, well, if it isn't Mariposa the idiot, a retard who has nothing else better to do then follow me around on IMDb.
There's a big difference between Ali calling Joe Frazier "The Gorilla" versus Vanity saying that black people are gorillas. Ali's fight nickname for Frazier was not racially motivated. As a promotional gimmick, Ali created monikers for his opponents. Yes, he called Joe "The Gorilla" before their third fight in Manila, but he also called Sonny Liston the "Big Ugly Bear," Floyd Patterson "The Rabbit," George Chuvalo The Washwoman," George Foreman "The Mumy," Earnie Shavers "The Acorn" (a reference to Earnie's bald head), Larry Holmes "The Peanut" (a reference to the shape of Holmes' head), and when there was talk of a possible fight between him and Gerry Cooney during Ali's ill-fated comeback, Ali called Cooney "The Great White Dope." Given this pattern, I think it's obvious that Ali used these nicknames as gimmicks to promote his fights and not as racial taunts. It should be noted too that Ali only called Frazier "The Gorilla" during the prefght stage of the Manila fight, largely because the two words rhymed and he could compose the catch phrase, "It will be a chila and a thrilla when I get the gorilla in Manila," but again it was all for fight promotion.
But Vanity on the other hand called her father a gorilla because he was black. When she made the statement that her father "is black he's a gorilla," she's obviously insinuating that because her father is black that makes him a gorilla. Any idiot, even you Mariposa, should be able to see that.
Instead of stalking me, why don't you read a bookother than a Jim Brown memoir- and get educated? And don't bother responding; I'm placing you on my IMDb "ignore list." -

That's rather presumptuous of you, don't you think? I replied once to this pathetic thread, and you replied numerous times on my "Muhammad Ali was a hypocrite" one. Not only did you reply numerous times as Sparky48, but also numerous times as Moochiebaby (Did you really think I wasn't gonna figure that one out?).
Well Moochie, or Sparky, whatever the hell your name is, I was here because I know Vanity, or Denise. She was a patient at a hospital I worked at a few years ago about 40 miles south east of San Francisco. I won't go into details but she was very sick. And knuckleheads like you don't have better things to do than to bring up some BS out of the past. I mean, even if it were true, what was the point? Just to pick on Denise. Life has already picked on her pretty good, don't you think?
Anyway moochiebaby/sparky48, when you get some life experience that goes beyond your 15 years, you'll realize that it's not wise to post under two names like you did on the Muhammad Ali board. "Ali was a hypocrite". If you have no life - which is apparently the case - and choose to do that, make sure you have two distinct personas. Eventually I figured that it was impossible that two people existed as dumb as you. -

Her career crash had nothing to do with any racial remarks she made. The reason her career crashed was because she became a very serious coke addict. Even she says that to this day. She became so bad that she became an evangelist. She appeared on the Jim and Tammy Faye Baker show and told everyone that she was so coked out of her mind that she was laying in her bed and thought Satan was causing her bed to tremble. hahaha

And you believe all of that? SO naive.
If you listed all of the rock musicians throughout history with drug issues, it would read a like a who's who of rock legends. Believe me, if Vanity could make money via the entertainment industry, someone would have gotten help for her to resolve her drug problem. -

Her career was still going strong into the late 80's, so her comments couldn't have killed it off in '86.
She Co - starred with carl weathers in Action Jackson in '88.
She was sort of a 80's Cheryl Cole, gorgeous to look at but not much else. Very weak instantly forgetting music. -

That clip of Vanity calling her black father a gorilla was actually up on YouTube for awhile. I watched it and was aghast. It really happened.
That remark may have been a reflection of her personal resentment against her father - or even of black men in general (since her father was a black man, as is Prince - and some women sour on black men after having negative relationship experiences with one or more of them) - but she sure expressed that resentment in one of the worst ways possible. The black people who took strong offense were justified in doing so - especially since she didn't do a very good job of clarifying her remarks in that subsequent Jet article. -

Drugs killed her career and she got super religious wanting really nothing to do with being Vanity again.
I disagree that her comment killed her career but
I agree it was in very poor taste.
She's talking about half of her background and I think most of us have made bad jokes at the wrong place and time. -

For someone who claims he's lost respect for Vanity after her comment, you sure have been following her career, posting videos & 1c84links & stuff. Why waste energy on someone who you felt "disrespected" by?
