I'm glad that Denise has found the one thing in life worth findingJesus. My favorite movie of her's was The Last Dragon. It was a cute yet goofy movie with heart. I was a little girl when she was famous, but I remember it being really nice to see a pretty woman of color in a leading role.
I wish her all the best in her new life. -

I not Vanity's biggest fan but if you want to get an idea of just how low she got then pick up Nikki Sixx'es biog "The Heroin Diaries" he dated her for a while and gets her perspective on the whole thing as well as describing the squallid lives that they were living.

Vanity was abused by her father, then by Prince. Prince actually wanted to name her group Vagina and call them hookers and Vanity did have to be like a hooker on stage to sell her records. She had such low self-esteem she thought being a sex symbol would be satisfying, she thought being a star would be satisfying, but she found she couldn't hide from her unhealed emotional wounds and the fast life she was living was only making her worse. Her abuse, then being exploited by men who made her believe that her beauty was showing her body only added more flame to the fire. She used drugs to ease the pain but it only made it worse. So you wish she wasn't saved, Why? So you could use her to? You need to pray to God or better yet go to the devil he'd loved to bring you to hell with him. It's her own life and I'm glad she's changed especially if she's satisfied. Everyone whether you believe it or not have to answer to God one day. She repented so she has nothing to worry about but you men do?
Vanity changed because of men like you.
I'm a young lady, thank you very much. And now I do understand that Ms. Matthews is happy with her new life, & I wish her all the best. No lie.

I am so happy for her. When i heard her testimony i almost cried. because i know jesus is real. and she would have died that day, if she didn't surrender to jesus.
I know that some people almost have to lose everything before they will surrender. And the reason why she is just thankful and has so much faith in jesus is because he is real, he delivered her from that hold that satan had on her life.

Im glad shes seeking a change but to denounce your previous life is just not right.
She said in an interview once that she threw out all pictures, movies, records/CD's, etc of her during her days as Vanity. Like they still don't exist ~ I personally have a copy of 'The Last Dragon' her Pretty Mess single, and more. I wonder after she did that if she ever did look back at an old picture of her and Prince or watched 'Tanya's Island'?
I understand what she was feeling because she really wanted to denounce the drug usage she was going through but there was more to her than that. She is/was a great singer and beautiful lady (inside and out).
I will miss Vanity but at least I (unlike she did) wanted to keep a piece of her still around.

Just read through some of the previous post and need to correct you all on some things. Someone stated Prince abused her ~ oppositeshe even once said in an interview after she was saved that she use to punch him around because she was so dopped up. Far as Nikki Sixx book goes most of the things said in it were embellished to basically sell the book. Don't want to give too much info on it since some of you may or may not have yet read the book. -

Do you realize that. If the God tells you to do something, you must obey him or you will die.
She is not that person anymore. and washed her hands free of that image. I know she has NOT even tempted herself by looking at old stuff. She is busy with the ministry. and you should be happy for her.
Denise Matthews is working on her book. and that would be the only book i would read if any. You can go to her main website. -

I'm glad that she is so much better now, but you can NEVER totally give up, or ignore, or act like things in your past never happened. That is what made her the person she is now, and destroying everything that brought you to where you are now is not healthy. I can understand putting it away, or storing it, but you can't get away from it.

Thank you for posting that. I was wrong in thinking that she was avoiding her past. It is clear that she is building from it, and opening up her past in order to help others. She really has been through alot. I might buy that book.

She became a born again Christian because she felt God gave her another chance after almost dying. I think it's great she learned from her mistakes and far more respectable than going back to her previous habits.

You're an idiot and it's utter suicide how you seem to feel the need to make it so known. If you knew ANYTHING, you'd know that Christ of all entities did not obliterate "Vanity", it was her destructive use of narcotics. She was on her death bed when she'd given herself completely to Christianity. More so, she had believed in Christ her whole life, just hadn't followed the teachings of The Word. And who cares anyway? She's alive, bitch! And serving someone HIGHER than YOU!
