Insulting biography for venezuelan people

God I love being an American. Apparently I'm an ignorant moron based solely on my place of birth. Hey waitaminute.. isn't that EXACTLY what the rest of the world accuses us ignern't ass sniffin' 'Mericans o' being?
Let me give you a giant tip into this particular American's life: I don't care about the opinions of a world that simply
adores
villifying me simply because some of my ancestors migrated away from intolerable living situations centuries ago, yet has nary a problem rushing out to buy Levis, Nikes, and whatever else this apparent cesspool of a country manages to mass-produce. Apparently American people are all drooling imbeciles, but gosh, American merchandising and movies sure rock out load, don't they?
See, if I generalized about you based on the country of your birth you yourself would quickly label me a close-minded racist, I have no doubt. But you can do it to me because, hey, hating Americans is so darned trendy and fun! I wonder how much money your country has borrowed from mine during WWII to restart the economy? Money that was never repaid? And I'm sure the minute Al Queada or some other grou5b4p of hate mongers (rather like yourself) targets your home town as and absolutely
awesome
place to drop a bomb or crash a plane, we're your best friends to come clean up your mess. Or worse, you'll bitch about how we didn't come to your aid fast enough.
Don't get me wrong; I am not a starry eyed patriot by any stretch of the ol' gray matter. I love my country but am fully aware of it's faults. I love it because it's my home. And, as amazing as this will no doubt seem, most Americans think along similar thought patterns as my own. And ya know, I'd much rather we cleaned up our own problems than playing Globo Cop for the rest of the world.
But then, it's so much more fun generalizng an entire melting pot of cultures and traditions, isn't it? Why stop and think and then ruin that perfect score you've no doubt been cultivating your entire life? -

You are a bunch of self righteous pigs! Everybody who hates America is just jealous. Apparently Patricia Valasquez doesn't mind it too much, she's over here indulging in the Hollywood lifestyle making that crazy American money!

It's a shame that being so young you support the venezuelan dictator. However, this post shouldn't be about what you're gonna do the day that they take away all the things that your parents have earned, this is about patricia.
And being so close to her, I would've thought that YOU had better things to say about her work with your people, instead of defending la ley mordaza.
I'm so sorry for you, growing in a country without future. Well maybe going to "la bolivariana" will get you a decent job, as long as your family doesn't do anything against the hero of sabaneta.

she grew up in deep poverty in what's (at least) not a first-world country. she's an indigenous person. she lived a life of poverty as an indigenous person in a not-first-world country. whether you think her experiences are universalizable to venezuela or not, it's a part of her story. topic creator needs to drink a glass of STFU and quit marginalizing ms. velazquez's experiences.

Oh yes, because other governments around the world don't control the information that their respective media reports to the people? Please.
And as far as the invasion and colonization of the Philippines, the Spanish beat us to it. Spain invaded and "raped" Latin America and the Philippines BEFORE the United States was even a thought in anybody's head. But are you whining about that? Of course not. Who cares that many countries before the U.S. subscribed to imperialism and committed atrocities across the globe. Is it right that the U.S. is doing it now? Of course not. But to act like we're the only ones that have ever subjugated people we supposedly feel are less than us (which isn't the case for all Americans), is just plain hypocritical and narrow-minded.
And several centuries? America isn't even three centuries old yet!! We're babies compared to China, England, Japan, just to name a few. So saying we've been climbing over people for "centuries" is just ridiculous bunk. Especially when countries like England and Spain colonized WAY before our time. And since it seems you only skimmed your government's history books that vilify America and all its inhabitants, I'll elucidate (by the way, elucidate means to clarify) something for you: America itself was colonized by Europeans. America by no means has the patent on imperialism, colonization, and the subjugation of indigenous people. Apparently, we just learned from the people who did it to us.
Your knowledge is severely lacking. Why don't read something that actually has facts instead of whatever ridiculous crap website you posted. -

allright so yeah, comparing americans to furbies is was kinda funny but it's obviously an exageration, the american society is way too complex to simply just think of them as some sort homogenous (sp?) solid stupid society, but i do think the average american would benefit from trying to learn a little bit more about the world that surrounds them, i'm guessing it might have to a little bit with the education system.

Some of the people in this topic are saying Americans are Like "furbies" and other insulting comments about how We Americans are ignorant towards the rest of the worlds poverty problmems ect, However The people who are making those comments are just as ignorant by classifying all americans in that category and it makes you sound jealous of us too

you all talk about Americans but remember one thing most of there ancestors came from Europe. and the rest were forcibly moved by Europeans to America from all over the world. So in some way we are al talking bad about our self.

And plz stop with the ww2 bs, i think the Russians did most of the hard work then. We only never appreciated it because of communism. And America only benefited from a strong Europe.

What's all this Americans and Venuzuelans hating each other stuffnone of that crap matters.
We all start out the same, and our place of birth IN AND OF ITSELF no more defines us than our skin color, size, or whatever.
There are evil Americans and good Venuzuelans. There are good Americans and evil Venuzuelans. What we do with our lives, the choices we make, are the ONLY true yardsticks with which to measure our worth.
The choices that Hugo Chavez has made, like murder, property theft, and running a ring of thugs he calls the Bolivarians mark his choices as damn poor to me. In a better world he'd be a prime candidate for a bullet from the people he's harassed, jailed, and beaten, or even from the foreign corporations he has stolen from while justifying such theft under the guise of "socialism". He's a petty Fidel wannabe, a jealous twit who tilts at windmills and blames all of his bad press on vague categories like "the wealthy landowners" (as if it was a crime to OWN land and property or to make a profit, which it's pretty freakin' not) and "the imperialists" (despite the fact that America has far worse problems to worry about at the than his bellyaching). Venuzuela is run by a dictator, pure and simple, and the sooner the good people of Venuzuela (same as in America or any other nation, this is probably 40-50% the total populationthe world is filled with a**holes after all) rise up and destroy this wart for themselves the better off they will be.
And that's for their own good because Chavez couldn't hurt the U.S. if he tried

Hi everyone, this bio is soooo, i dont know how to call it(im still in shock).I am from venezuela, i went to the same highschool she did, and the description of Venezuela of imdb is completly wrong. We are not in our best economical situation but this is an development country.. we sell to USA oil to the expensive gas u put in your cars..people here go more to college than u do in USA we are intelligent, most of the people can speak another language, i bet most of u wouldnt understand if i write i sentence in spanish. Anyhow, the journalist that wrote the bio shouldt have done it 'cause obviously he or she made the worst research of venezuela ever, dont even know what he is talking about. Patricia Velasquez is a wonderful model-actress who care about the indians in venezuela (which is a pretty small percent of the people in here)So please imdb change the bio it is wrong and pretty insulting for venezuelan people.

I really agree with what you say, especially about the environmental problems that you say the United States has caused for itself and the rest of the world. But because China's and India's populations are growing uncontrollably, it is fine for them to consider that they should not live like the average American does, because as you said, that would require a ton of resources, which do not exist, and because it would also cause a lot more environmental degradation than exists today. I think too, that Americans are the ones that NEED to control their rate of consumption! The wealthiest nations are consuming 80+ percent of Earth's resources, while "developing countries" consume only about 20 percent.
GOOD ONE! I liked your quote about how you think it would have been much easier for the U.S. to have signed the Kyoto protocol, than to have to pay so much to rebuild New Orleans and Florida every year!
Thats so true, I mean, the U.S. is not pragmatic in environmental aspects. U.S. governments react after major disaster has striked, when something simpler and less costly could have been done to prevent problems in the first place.
