      mechanical_warrior,
I really agree with what you say, especially about the environmental problems that you say the United States has caused for itself and the rest of the world. But because China's and India's populations are growing uncontrollably, it is fine for them to consider that they should not live like the average American does, because as you said, that would require a ton of resources, which do not exist, and because it would also cause a lot more environmental degradation than exists today. I think too, that Americans are the ones that NEED to control their rate of consumption! The wealthiest nations are consuming 80+ percent of Earth's resources, while "developing countries" consume only about 20 percent.
GOOD ONE! I liked your quote about how you think it would have been much easier for the U.S. to have signed the Kyoto protocol, than to have to pay so much to rebuild New Orleans and Florida every year!
Thats so true, I mean, the U.S. is not pragmatic in environmental aspects. U.S. governments react after major disaster has striked, when something simpler and less costly could have been done to prevent problems in the first place.
      Aaahh, my Precioussssssss

"P.S. The conflict in Vietnam was less of a military campaign and more of an internal political battle. Being that, America restricted itself from bombing the North Vietnamese back into the Stone-age. "
          Dear Mr. Hendrix
Seeing as it indeed was an internal political struggle, that gives America's presence even less justification.
          Yay or nay?

You've spent so much time telling us all about how wrong capitalism is, why don't you do something constructive and tell us what the solution is? Or maybe you are one of those people that love to point out problems but can rarely give a viable solb68ution.
Is capitalism the best thing for us? Of course not. But what are our alternatives? Communism? Do you really think that communism will make the world better? Look at what communism did to Cuba, which is just one example. Socialism? Socialism is just as flawed as capitalism. So what's the solution? I'm not sure there is one. You cannot fix human greed. And we are all greedy, not just Americans. That's why foreign countries eat up our culture. And that's not arrogance talking, you know it's true and I know its true because I've seen it in many countries around the world - McDonald's, movies, music, etc. People in foreign countries continually buy our products that are produced by our "unhealthy society". It's not because Americans are "better" or have "better products". It's because we are all greedy and we all want what everybody else has. It's human nature. And until you fix human nature - or install a worldwide dictatorship, capitalism will not go away.
Maybe we are misunderstanding you and you are not trying to vilify America or its citizens. But when you repeatedly talk about our unhealthy beliefs and society while not giving credit to the fact that so many other countries also have unhealthy beliefs and societies, it makes your arguments seem one-sided and narrow minded. Your arguments seem like you are saying that America is responsible for the current horrific state of the entire world. Which is ridiculous considering that 1.) America is only 3 centuries old and the world's problems have been many, many centuries in the making and 2.) We may be a super power, but our population only makes up 4 percent of the total world population.

Who are you to say that Americans don't go to college as much as Venezuelas. So go anywhere with your life in America you have to go to college to get the good jobs. I love America..we are all treated great here. Plus, I hate how everyone refers to Americans as fat or ugly. Come on peoplethere are fat and ugly people all over the world. I think every country has gorgous people and ugly people. So get over yourself!

Hey dont turn this into a political issue
When I made the thread just wanted to let everyone know the truth behind the bio
And to "rebel_tha_crazy_g0d" who said wrote the bio:
Im not saying that I know more about her than you, heck I really dunno that much I was just saying that some of the things you said were very insulting to us venezuelans Im also not speaking on behalf of her, Im just making a point here and I made myself clear on this:
Venezuela is not a poor and piti third world country full of indians who "if so" go to college the only thing they can study is something oil-related
Im just defending the name of my country as Im sure you will and as Im sure every venezuelan who reads this would do.

I have seen this happen on so many boards. Why did it even have to come down for this. I am not saying the bio was right or wrong or that you were to blame but there can be multiple submissions so you can send in you own that paint a better portriat of your country.
Anything too stupid to be said, is sung.

why the hell SHOULD we care about your stupid country? seriously, this is ridiculous. you flame a poster because he gets some facts wrong about your country. now it's your turn to make a long post detailing important facts about every country in the world. oh, you can't do it? then stfu and stop crying about how people know nothing about your country. and like someone already stated, how the hell do you know that an american wrote that biography?

I NEVER said that and Im not crying o_O I just wanted to point something out so people who doesnt know a thing about my country and take the time to read this thread realize that its not a poor ugly country full of stupid people who run around in a jungle like tarzan Im saying this because once I was on a chat room and someone told me "Oh I didn't knew you had computers over there or internet" so Im just making a point here, if you dont like it then just stop reading it.

Can someone clear up a couple of things for me? What does "indigenous third world country" mean? I know what indigenous means but don't quite get the meaning when it is attached to the rest of the quote. Doesn't Native American refer to 'Indians' in the US and Canada? Or, did her parents come from the US? How would every one automatically peg her as a Venezuelan Native American?
Being 'doomed' to work for an oil company sounds ridiculous but if it were true, would it be so bad? If these "Native American children" have only one career choice, they must be held in high regard if they must all go to college and study engineering? Right?
I saw 'Committed' the other night. Patricia was pretty good in it! I didn't realize she was the one in 'The Mummy'! I would not have thought of her as a comedic actress.
