Gwen starred in the Broadway 1966 "Sweet Charity" though it was her first musical for 6 years, and didn't do another stage musical until Chicago in 1975. Why, when (husband?)Bob Fosse was the Director/Choreographer of both the stage show and the film , did Gwen not get the part of Charity in the film?

Because if you get the star treatment on Broadway you are resentful being asked to play second fiddle in the movie version to MacLaine who knows nothing about voice projection and real 'thea-ater'.
