His performance as Frankie's partner in The Verdict was the best thing he ever did. i believe he was robbed of a nomination, which he should have won for.
    very sad, Jack Warden 1920-2006

He was very funny in "Used Cars" - terrorizing Kurt Russell & Gerrit Graham, beating them up, etc. But he had great range; he could be pretty scary; i still remember "The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing" - saw it last about 15 years ago. He kills Bo Hopkins with his bare hands and even Burt Reynolds had trouble stopping him, had to shoot him 2 or 3 times.

It seems we all have our favourite movies where Jack Warden shone and stole the limelight from his more illustrious co-stars. My favourite was "And Justice For All" and "Heaven Can Wait" In the former movie, he was a perfect foil to Al Pacino's character. That crazy, whacky judge still remains in my memory. RIP. Thanks for the great movie moments.

I don't like that it says he won an Emmy for Crazy Like A Fox because in the awards section of his biography, it says he was twice nominated for that show but never won. That just ticks me off when obituaries about an actor or actress report that they won an Oscar or Emmy when in truth, they were really only nominated. There is a big difference between being nominated and actually winning.

Indeed there have been very few actors who are better. I think that sums it up nicely.

Actor Jack Warden has died at the age of 85.
His acting career lasted some 50 years, Some of his roles where the Juror with the Baseball Tickets in "Twelve Angry Men", Clark Gabels Cheif in "Run Silent-Run Deep" and played a newspaper editor in "All the Presidents Men" and won a couple of emmy's for his lead role in the 1980's show "Crazy Like a Fox".
Actually looking over his obituary I found it interesting that he served in the US Navy, US Merchant Marine, and the US Army. He had joined the Navy and spent the 1930's patroling the Yangze River in China, He joined the US Merchant Marine in 1941 and spent time on the North Atlantic Convoys. He quit that union in 1942 and joined the US Army, where he trained as a paratrooper before being assigned to the 101st airborne division. He broke his leg badly in a practice jump before D-day and spent a year in a stateside hospital recovering.

Thanks for everything Jack, Rest in Peace
