^ Agree with above poster. Even though Roger is rumored to have a huge ego, the man was a genius.
I wish Syd would put out some more solo stuff but he's probably too busy gardening. Poor Syd. Such a shame.

Reading accounts of Syd's decline brings a tear to the eye, an absolute tragidy. To me Floyd have it all, sound and words. Dave's guitar work is amazing and in albums like The Wall it combines perfectly with Rogers writing genius. His lyrics, especially The Wall, are breath-taking, I have yet to hear an album so full of passion and emotion. It's difficult to take sides, they are like fire and ice.

/\ That is exactly how I feel about John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I don't really like Paul songs or Paul's solo work but together with Lennon they made a genius pair.
And agreed on Syd too. It's a crying shame. Another sad rock and roll story reminding everyone not to do drugs.

or not as much as Syd did. It's amazing the man is still alive!

                Amen! Amen! Amen!
Gilmour would never sell a record if he did not have the name Pink Floyd to use. Waters went out on his own. Hell, Animals, Wall and Final Cut were almost Waters solo projects.

Well considering in 2002 Glimour put out David Gilmour:Live in Concert wich he didn't use the Pink Floyd name and that sold alot of copies, so obviously its not true that he would not sell anything wihtout 1c84the name Pink Floyd.
Also Delicate Sounds of Thunder is imo the best concert ever done. Had nothing to do with Waters, besides the fact he wrote alot of the songs. Gilmour sings, and plays the sounds very well. He also produced everythign that had to do with it.
Also by calling him fat is off because in pink floyds prime he wasn't fat at all sh-t befor ehe joined Pink he was a model

                    Good evening Mr Vai
You have raised some really gopod points but tossing insults just doesnt cut it
Having been a PF fam for about 20 years of my life i have folloewd and studied the music and stories closely
It is true that the sum is much greater than the parts (sounds like a good concept album for Rog
One has to only listen to Blue light to see what a great songwriter and muscian Dave really is
Its time maybe that Rog get off his war kick and write something inspirational which we havent really heard since The wall yes there have been moments since (radio waves and the bravery of being out of range) but its still a bitch session
Yes Rog wrote alot of the greatest lyrics to ever have been heard but even he will admit he was the driver and Dave was the car he was driving
One only has to listen to Dogs or the pinnical of Animals being the gfinest guitar workj ever on the end of sheep
I guess i come from both camps in understanding the value of a great idea or story/concept as well as great musicianship and performace ability
On a final note how many have remembered the genius of Nick mason and Richard Write knowing there parts in one of the fu=inats bands in all exsistance

Roger wrote the songs and was by far the most dominant force on their greatest efforts. David Gilmour is a fat studio musician that has brought nothing but disgrace on the name of the band with Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Talent. This is not even a question. have you ever heard David talk? There is nothing there, nothing. Yes, he can play guitar, but not write.

"Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" was great. "Radio KAOS" was great. "Amused to Death" was good. The "division bell" and "momentary lapse" were the worst recordings I have ever heard. So, I disagree with you.

It was actually rumored for years and still is to this day, that Syd died!!! I mean come on, who do you think started this rumor. Obviously the band.
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was written about Syd, who appeared in the studio one day while the band was putting the final touches on
                                        Wish You Were Here
. Pink Floyd performed "Astronomy Domine" on their 1994 tour. Several biographies licensed by the band make mention of Syd's descent into dementia and the fact that he is very much alive. Members of the Floyd guested on Syd's two solo albums.
I don't know where you got this talk that Roger and David are triyng to make people believe that Syd Barrett's dead, but I think you're
                                        way
                                        off the mark.
