He asked to be written off, his parents apparently both died this year and he wanted to go back to London to direct a movie based on his life.
Also I heard in an interview that the two actresses weren't written off because of the DUI. Ana Lucia's actress asked to be written off because she didn't want to be "trapped in her tv role". Bummer though, I liked all three of the tail section characters they wrote off. -

Hey genius, you and others of your ilk might want to add a spoiler warning to messages that contain spoilers. A lot of people are just getting into LOST and catching up. Like myself, for instance. Bunch of jackasses.

She doesn't look drunk. She just looks like she'd been crying.
She was barely a drink over the limit. Too bad they had to be so harshly judgemental and write her off the show before they'd even developed her character. -

So what if everyone drinks and drives, its still illegal. Furthermore alot of people die from DUI related fatalities every year, and its usually not the drunk person eaither, but someone who was minding their own business. Most professional jobs will not hire you if you have a DUI on your record, and its a career ruiner in the military, so its pretty understandable that they both got fired.

I suggest you listen to the Lost producers podcast or look for the interview where they EXPLICITLY say that these were characters (Ana Lucia and Libby) that had a pre-determined length in the show. They do not flagrantly write the show week-to-week, they've got characters and plotlines figured out well in advance. So to say that they got fired is a little judgemental when it has been confirmed from the inside that they were not.
I agree with you that drinking and driving is wrong, the point that was being made was not to negate the potentially life-ending consequences, but to show how utterly hypocritical we can be in this country. We are so judgemental and we love to point the finger at people who do wrong (even if we have, and have not been caught). So it is a sad thing that she was caught, but it is not any of our places to judge someone based upon one, potentially isolated incident. Leave that to the ACTUAL judge. If we spent less time pointing fingers at the negative, and focusing on what positive things people do in their lifetime, we wouldn't hav1354e those trashy celebrity magazines that are about as useless as toilet paper (less useful in fact, because Charmin Ultra is oh-so comfortable, haha). -

I have heard the producers say in several interviews that the arrests had nothing to do with them being written off the show. I still think that is BS. All three actors that got into legal trouble disappear off the show within a couple of months. The Lost writers must be able to predict the future or something.
I'm sure a pre-determined story line is followed; but when there are so many characters that have face-time on a show it cannot be too hard to knock one or two off unexpectedly and still be able to continue the story. -

Maybe you haven't, but have you never looked bad after drinking a lot. If you haven't, well most people in the world have been drunk and have all had looks like that after a long night. She just happened to get a picture of it taken.
