She was just so quietly menacing. She is a tiny woman, and it would make no sense if she played Smurf as a woman who got what she wanted through physical intimidationshe used her voice to full effect. When she manipulated the lawyer, I got the sense that Jacki played Smurf as somebody who knows that she should be feeling dirty for this kind of behaviour, as the lines state, but her sociopathic tendencies were always there and we knew that it was just a necessary job for her. She made me understand what she was capable of, beyond the text. That, to me, is why she is worthy of an Oscar.

Rancid, that is the funniest thing anyone has ever called me. Wait til I tell my friends. Maybe I could have it as my user name.
Gaddafi still thinks this board should be deleted. And this time no NATO intervention is allowed -

each to their own opinion, i found Jacki Weavers performance in Animal Kingdom was definately worth the nom but its a bit hard with so many movies in one year to say what is and what isn't worth an oscar nomination when there could be so many great performances. I loved her subtle menace, it was perfect for the role.

Her performance in Animal Kingdom was extrememly good.
As for her work in Silver Linings Playbook, how she got an Oscar nomination for THAT one is quite mystifying
Never defend crap with "It's just a movie"
