I'm not sure what Tom's plan of attack is? Watch5b4ed draft day today on a plane and thought he was ok. Not great but a pass mark.
Still today his best acting on screen was probably cbtd or parkland. One feels when smallville ended in 2011 if he went for roles straight away when the iron was hot, he may of got a chance for a leading role.
He's not marlon brando! Marlon didnt act for 9 years and when he decided he wanted a role..he got it. Cause he was a great actor. Not a good 1 like welling..but he had a great resume.
I gave this that brando title cause i feel like he may overrate himself. He might have to do some b graders for now on cause his star his basically gone. -

Nah, not really. He doesn't really want to be a celebrity, that's his issue, but the conflict is that if he wants to land roles he needs to live the lifestyle, be in the public eye, which he doesn't.
There's not anything like being a 'pure actor 100%, 0% celebrity', unless he wants to do theatre. -

I totally agree with you. Tom is a better actor than most people give him credit for. His problem is that he doesn't have the big name like a Hemsworth or Cavil. If producers and directors thought he could fill the theatres then he would get bigger and better roles. After watching him in Parkland and the later years of smallville, I do believe he has got what it takes to be a big star. He just has to accept that with that comea the lack of privacy and being more in the public eye. I certainly think he is better actor than Cavill and some of the others getting the big roles.

You guys are making some great points and ive heard hes a private dude. He just needs to do 1 lead. I see so many knobhead actors score lead roles..and i always think why cant tom welling chase "GODZILLA" around, he can at least act. Small roles in smallish movies wont do the trick.but as i posted before it could be too late?

Smallville took up too much time, especially when he got into producing. It was 10+ months of the year. I think he should have gone.straight into movies after smallville ended. Taking two years off for whatever reason, hurt his bankability. Now a lot of people have forgotten who he is and that is why directors are afraid he is not a big enough star to carry a movie project. He really just needs a significant role in one blockbuster and he will be set. He has all the assets to be a big star, he just needs one big break.

But you are right, I'm afraid. He is running out of time to make the big move to big movies. Hope we hear some good news soon, for all our sakes. He really is a talented and handsome man. It would be a huge shame to waste that!

I agree with what others have said, he doesn't seem to care if he's an A lister or not, but i think he def has what it takes to be a leading man, i think he's talented and he def is good looking enough, in my opinion he's the best looking man in hollywood! I could just sit and stare at his face for hours, sorry if thats creepy, lol! Anyway his face not being on the tv may affect us fans more than it does him!

Well im a guy and straight, so i couldnt care less about his looks. The problem is you got a guy like ryan kwanten getting film roles and tom welling isnt. Kwanten isnt terrible dont get me wrong(im aussie) but hes not leading man material.

I totally agree with you! I can't understand how some of these guys get these leading roles. They are not great actors and some don't even have good looks. I guess that's why I get frustrated because actors like Welling are being overlooked. His role in Parkland was small but very well done. In Draft Day they wasted his talent. His role was so small for being such a pivotal character to the story. He should be getting cast in bigger films. Just don't get it.
