Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Oskar Werner

    pbellema — 19 years ago(November 03, 2006 03:50 PM)

This English-language version of this film has been reissued on both DVD and VHS in region 1. I contacted the company responsible and they told me that the title will soon be deleted. However, a few copies remain available - while the supplies last. (as of early november 2006)
I can vouch for the fact that the DVD transfer is excellent (both sound and picture). The actors are dubbed, and that would seem to include Werner - except that the two voices are so similar that, at times, you wonder This is all the more striking that Oskar Werner, as you know, had a very distinctive voice and delivery.
    Here are the relevant details:
Life & Loves of Mozart (DVD & VHS)
Oskar Werner, Gueden, Koth, Dermota, Kunz, Frick; Swarowsky, cond.; Chorus
of the Vienna State Opera, dancers of the Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna
Symphony Orchestra. In English. Beautiful print. 101m. Color.
DVD Region 0 (all regions) PCM audio. $18.95 (Special: $15.95) NTSC and PAL
    VHS $16.95 (Special: $13.95)
