Yea, not all actors make 15+ million for every movie they do. I think Fred Willard is a great comedic actor and I don't think any less of him because he's been in a lot of movies. Good for him for being wanted by so many directors/casting agents.

he was actually famous back in the 60's or 70's. He had his own variety show. I'm too young to have seen it for myself, but I worked with Fred in one of the films that you would consider his 'lesser works' and my dad and lots of older people were completely in awe of who he was.
I still love him from his recent works like Anchorman, Chris Guest's stuff (and all his improvised stuff) and his voiceover work is awesome! Did you notice he's the voice of the nudist dad in Family Guy? He's so versatile.

"he makes anything funny."
yea like in Everybody Loves Raymond i was a little put off when he was going to be playing a very religious man, on account im not religious at ALL. but i thought his role as Hank was so freakin funny! i loved it! and he also said on a commentary for ELR that he's "always available". cuz they asked him if he'd come back for a commentary on ELR season 8 [which i really hope he comes back.] He did the commentary w/ Phil, [the creator and Amy's real life husband] Ray and Chris Elliot [omg chris was soooo funny in the commentary] lol

I think the guy is the best thing about Christopher Guest films and I understand that he likes to take any role hes offered, but Date Movie? really? Date Movie? Im not hating on Fred Willard I just feel that date movie is so far below him he really doesnt need to soil his gleeming resume with date movie.

i love that he pops up in so many things! its great even when the movie is garbage he can get a smile or two out of me just from appearing onscreen! Hell his hair alone made me laugh in For Your Consideration! He's just one of those presenceskinda wish someone would let him "Star" in somethingbut you know maybe that's not something he'd want to docontent to come in on the sides deliver a line or tworight now though he is seriously one of the best random things about movies these days.
his selection process thoughhe's like christopher walkenhe just loves the work. -

"kinda wish someone would let him "Star" in something"
he WAS supposed to star (well, co-star) in an ELR spin-off w/ Robert, Amy, Amy's Brother, Peter and Amy's parents, Hank and Pat but it never materialized. i love Fred Willard and Monica Horan [Amy] and i was so upset when it didnt come together =[
