It says on his "Where are they now" section:
(June 2011) Peter Wingfield announced he has been accepted into medical school at the University of Vermont and is leaving acting.
Has anybody else heard or read anything about him going back to med school? -

Yes, it's true. He tweeted about it earlier this summer and also announced it on his official fan club's website. Here's a link. http://www.pwfc.org/news.shtml

To clarify a little, Peter is still open to acting if he can work it around his school schedule, but his priority is school. -

I'm late and just hearing about Peter returning to medical school. Believe it or not this story has really helped me tremendously. I am an artist who studied art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After 10 years I returned to school to study psychology. I am struggling over my first major paper and having doubts about my decision to return to school and needed to take a break from writing. For some reason I decided to come here to check up on one of my favorite actors. I somehow feel different now after reading this article. I'm so inspired! I am doing what I want to do, don't give up on your dreams.
It's always wonderful yet challenging to expand yourself. You can do anything you want, be anyone you want to be.
Congratulations, I'm so happy for Peter and his family. God speed, the world needs more good doctors, I'm sure Pb68eter and his wife Carolyn will make a fine doctors. -

He's still doing it. I just found out about it myself after seeing him Tweet medical stuff. I'd assumed it was for a role he was doing so I came here. I wonder if this means he's given up acting though.

Peter hasn't closed off the option of acting, but he is becoming a doctor. The PWFC.org site has information on what he is doing and hosts his video blogs. Currently, he is in rotations and starting his third year of med school and he planning to run the Boston Marathon next spring (2014) in support of Boston Children's Hospital. In the meantime, 10,000 Days should begin this month on http://www.metacafe.com/ and will show in about 8 to 10 minute episodes. It's great-looking series and Peter has a terrific role in it.

My mind is blown. How did I not know this? Is it weird that I have the urge to take a road trip to UVM, its only 4 hours away? How surreal would it be to go to hospital and your doctor walks in and its Methos?
