Quote from the biography for Peter Wyngarde on his profile page:
"it was stated in court that Wyngarde's 200-year-old farmhouse, in the Cotswolds countryside, had been repossessed, that he had no assets and was living on unemployment benefits (or "the dole" as it is termed in the United Kingdom). And a petition to "bring back Peter to our screens", which a Bradford housewife, Dorothy Szekely, collected 600 signatures for and then sent to the BBC as well as to the ITV networks, was unsuccessful."
I think this biography is terribly thoughtless and without the faintest regard to dignity. The fact that he was involved in what was decades ago something of a scandal has nothing to do with today's standards. Not only was no one hurt or slandered (except for himself) but his so-called "indecency", plus the ridiculous "farmhouse" and the "dole" information have no relevance to his acting career at all and only point to the author's obsession with the tabloid topic rather than his professional work. Furthermore, the "unsuccessful" attempt to get him back into acting remains as blatant false information as any intelligent person can see in his resume that continued until 1994.
I cannot remain silent when I read such sensationalist texts that have no bearing to current social protocol and implore IMDB to remove this biography at once, and replace it with an intelligent composition. I am sure that fans of Mr. Wyngarde will agree with me on this and indeed I hope that he reads this himself and acts on his own behalf.
I will personally write the IMDB editorial department about this as well. -

You`re right jh66.The one thing i absolutely hate about this country is how quick we are to build people up and then pull them down.Peter was a great actor, probably still is,but for reasons steeped in misinformation and ignorance has been shunned-certainly by tv companieswhy? The guy has no doubt made mistakes in his life, but having we all.I bet, assumming his health was ok,he could act the socks of most of the "stars" we are exposed to nowadays.I remember watching him in Department S and Jason King, the Saint and lots of his early stuff and he always was a interesting and compelling actor.A great lost to honest

I agree, he was good in The Saint (I haven't seen Jason king or Dep S since I was about five!). I did read somewhere that he was 'awkward' to work with and made such demands on the Production Companies that he was effectively isolated?
Again, this was one report that I saw online- says it all. This country does love to build people up only to slag them off and look hard for salacious gossip.
Getting arrested in toilets didn't harm George Michael's career, did it? Different times, I guess? -

Again jh66,you are rightGeorge Michael covered up his sexualityhe was scared about the reaction and potential damage to his career when he was with Whamso definite parallels to Peter but when George came out, who cares, the guy can sing! I am giving my age away, but I remember when Peter was voted the most sexist man in the world and I recently watched a clip on youtube-I t2000hink it was the Russell Harty show and Peter was playing the King of Siam in the King and I and surely everyone knew, even back then, but again, so what! I get really annoyed with the double standards in this country. What a waste.
