Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Dwight Yoakam

    StephenColbert44 — 20 years ago(July 06, 2005 07:59 AM)

I am a big fan of Dwight's music and have been for years. The first film I saw him in was "Sling Blade" by Billy Bob Thornton as Doyle Hargraves. I think that this is one of my favorite roles that he has played. Write back if you agree.

That memorable scene of Doyle and his friends on the patio playing is especially funny because Dwight Yoakam is one of the most professional and acclaimed country music artists of our time, and here he was playing badlywhich he was pretty good at.

I love Dwight's music and saw Sling Blade. I could barely listen to his music after seeing his performace. He was that convincing. That didn't last too long fortunatly. I think his performance stole the move.

For sure, Billy Bob deserved all he got from that movie but Dwight was just as good!

I think it's a rotten shame he wasn't even nominated for any award.
SAG nominated the whole cast yes, but that's all.

Dwight did an amazing job in that movie, as a matter of fact I'm watching it now on the Indieplex channel.

That was the first time I realized how multi-talented this guy is singer, songwriter, actor what's next? I also liked his turn in the Wedding Crashers he more than held his own with the others.
