So it turns out that I've seen a lot of her work, and yet I never ever remember or recognize her. It's like she's a vor

I totally disagree. I love that she's 'unrecognizable' from role to role. She's a chameleon. She's an incredible actress and inhibits the character she plays. I find her performances real and dynamic. Just bc it doesn't jump off the screen at you doesn't mean it isn't good. Great acting is subtle, where ypu can't even tell they're acting. That's how good Natalie is

Or she's so flat that you literally cannot remember a single thing she's done, or an interesting choice that she's made.
Sorry, great acting is noticeable. What you're thinking of, just blending in, is what makes a good extra.
I've hired literally dozens of actors, and not once would I ever hire somebody I immediately forget. -

Have to agree with you here. I just put it together that I remember her from at least 3 other roles, all of which were good/great performances. I had no idea they were her, and I usually do recognize actors. She really doesn't look very different from role-to-role either, lending more credit to the fact that she does have chops. Kind of sneaky in that sense. Very sexy gal. Had me rolling on the floor with her scene in The Other Guys.

I still have to disagree. I think great acting is seamless. Where the actor BECOMES the character. Not all great acting has to jump off the screen. I've loved everything she's done. And I do see her making choices in her acting when I watch her in scenes or see her interact with various characters. I think the biggest issue with her right now is that she hasn't had much of a chance to play off multiple actors in her last few jobs. It tends to limit you in what you can do when you're only playing scenes with one person all the time and not being given much to work with within what's being written. I'm excited to see her new character in Under the Dome bc it's going to give her more of a chance to interact with multiple actors and to play something different in a different genre. She's kind of been relegated to the same type for awhile which can also effect performance bc it probably becomes boring.

I agree with you. She's a fine actress, the problem is with the material she's been given. She's had her moments on Justified, notably in a convoluted storyline in S2 where she got to show more than the one-note Winona is usually playing. She was also surprising in S4's finale: Ghosts. And she has better chemistry with Timothy Olyphant's Raylan than any other woman they've thrown at him on the show. I didn't watch The Following, not my cup of tea, but I am looking forward to seeing her on Under the Dome.

I agree. I really enjoyed her performance in S2 of Justified. There was a lot going on with Winona then and a lot of different things for Natalie to play. I also really, really loved her role on Hung. She got to play a lot of different layers with that character. Also, her Karen Darling on Dirty Sex Money was great. I'd love to see her do comedy again. The Following was underwhelming for me as a whole. I just felt like Natalie could have been more integral there but again, she was kind of stuck btwn these two men and became marginalized. I'm curious to see what will be given to her in Season 2. Hopefully, if she signed a deal to come back it means she's intrigued by what they told her was forthcoming OR i guess she could have just agreed to come back just to wrap things up and then she will move on. The will tell on that one.

I notice and enjoy her in all of her roles. I think for me I always think oh it's Natalie Zea again but her characters aren't that different from show to show. The Following was just badly written and anyone in it looked bad. Justified was a better character for her and Under The Dome is great. I wonder if she will continue in Under The Dome as haven't seen the last episode yet. I think she a good actress and very natural. Each to their own opinions.

I feel exactly the same way. I have now seen her on three prime-time s5b4eries, (The Following, Under the Dome and Justified), and found her equally as annoyingly boring in all three. I love your description of her. She should return to acting in soap operas with all the other "no-impact performers" as soon as possible.

I think she's a very competent actress and good in a supporting role. I suspect that's why she works so much. She must have impressed some casting director somewhere since she escaped soap opera hell (and she was a temp actor on a third tier soap to boot).
