At least Gonng Li didn't pocket the earthquake donation money, at least Gong Li didn't fake news and fool public again and again, at least Gong Li is a much better actress than Ziyi Zhang. I like Gong Li much more than Zhang.

To be fair to Ziyi, none of the accusation levelled at her so far can be proven beyond doubt, though things are certainly moving against her..Until some solid evidences come into the public/justice department's possession, the safest option is to use the adjective "alleged" before the suppposed crime(s) perpetrated by Ziyi..

Then just simply show the account book please. It is regulated by law that a community charity should be transparent. It is just this simple. Hiding the account book for a charity is already illegal.

How Gong Li and Ziyi conduct their careers are like night and day.

I wonder about your opinion. If the Chinese hate Zhang Ziyi why she is elected again and again in China as one of hundred of the most beautiful and influential persons in the world?
              For example:
              China's Most Beautiful Person
Gong Li was voted as "China's most beautiful person" in a newspaper poll on May 20, beating Li Yuchun, Zhou Xun, and Zhang Ziyi into second, third and fourth place respectively.
              http://asialove.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
              and here:
Chinese actress Gong Li (left) lands at 34 on the Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2007, while Zhang Ziyi (right) ranks at 83
              http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2007-02/05/content_5696952.htm
If the Chinese woul2000d detest her they shurely wouldn't elect her for rank 83 of hundred.
I know some women from China and they all adore Ziyi for her self-confidence and her strong will to walk her own way.

The PRESS decides that . Not "The people."

Seriously, that's not decided by the people. Furthermore, beauty polls hardly equal popularity.

People magazine really is a popularity contest. It's not who's most beautiful, because the list would stay pretty much the same from year-to-year. It depends on how much exposure and who gets a positive vibe when people 5b4buy things like magazines (by who's on the cover) or movie tickets (with the people that star in it).

AMEN my brother. you said it all. Just another Asian female to satisfy disguisting Westerners asiaphiles. I bet the only reason why she got so famous in the west is because the media elite chose her as an example of a worldwide act to whitewash asian people. I think its a conspiracy and she thinks shes playing the game right, whereas one day, shes gonna get dumped or goes through a majob68r brakeup when the media elites dont need her anymore. Relax, in the future, the real market will be China, and as Chinese dont like seeing her or any new successors of her, western media will finally adjust their act to make films that suits the Chinese market. And that means no asiaphile male pursuing dragon ladies, no jungles and definitely no WMAF!
Long Live China and the Communist Party!

'How she arose to fame is luck, timing and a face that caters to Westerners’ taste'
its not fair to say this. gong li also got her fame from acting a series not-so-good chinese women and also those movies are to please the western world instead of pleasing chinese. if you trust rumor, why just believe that zhang ziyi is a gold digger and gong li didnt break's zhang yimou's family to get her current position in movie world?
                                🙂

Her early Chinese films were made to appeal to the western world?. Zhang Yimou and GL had no idea their films would appeal to the western world. It just turned out that way. Those two introduced Chinese art films to the world.

Gong Li had problems with the aiffair with the married Zhang Yimou.
And, yes: the "hate" is largely jealousy.
And what is gossip worth? What does it say about the purveyors of it that they're about truth? Or simply about inventing and spreading rumors?

"Chinese do hate her (just look at the amount of negative media exposure in China about her - you don't get that much concerted negativity for nothing) and most Chinese cannot understand why shes chos5b4en over and over again by Western media as the most beautiful or most influential actresses out of China. Shes more famous in China for being Cosmetics spokesmodels and gossips about her "digging" high-power men than her acting. "
EhThat pretty much sounds like jealousy to me, man.
There is a difference between "not-caring" and "hating". If people hate her for the reasons you mention than that is pretty much the definition of jealousy.

"you don't get that much concerted negativity for nothing)"
Yes you can. Just look at rich people.
Like i said, jealousy is an easy emotion to come by. Most people hate others for having something they don't.

Cater to Westerners' taste ? The Chinese like her too. Her Chinese movie Sophie's Revenge was a box office success in China.
Gong Li was condemned by some Chinese too in the 90s, so was Joan Chen in the 80s. The Chinese are known for jealousy on their own people who made it big overseas.
Tang Wei was banned by the Chinese government from making movies in China and the ban was lifted only recently.
                                        Grow up, Chinese kid.

I have noticed a lot of hate speech like this, mostly toward women actors. This kind of comment does not belong on a web site for fans. It is the most base and horrific kind of comment, with no basis in anything. Can you please remove this! I am tempted to report it to the site managers.
