Isn't it rather easy for Ziyi to prove her innocence…..

As someone who is very fond of Ziyi's portrayal of the role Jen in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, I really wish that she can come forward and proves her "haters" wrong.
Ziyi's past negative publicity is nothing compared to this bombshell of a scandal. her alleged "Casting couch"? she being a promiscuous broad? None of that actually manages to put a dent in her career as people don't really give a shjt about ziyi's path to stardom. But embezzlement of charity money is an entirely different matter. Not only is it morally reproachful, it's a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment. If Ziyi Co. fails to proper5b4ly handle this public relation nightmare, she may be damned for the rest of her life.
Ziyi is an energetic, intelligent young woman with abundance of careerism. She can certainly do better than this. -

I agree with rgr101's last comment. People might not care about Zhang Ziyi sleeping around (though you have to be aware promiscuity is judged more harshly by the more conservative Chinese society, especially when her alleged partners are all married men), but the donation scandal is another matter entirely. It will galvanize a portion of the population who previously could not have cared less.
I have read account from both sides. At first I thought Zhang is not so monumentally stupid as to embezzle the donation funds, but after looking at the evidence on Tianya, along with self-contradictory, ridiculous statements made by Zhang Ziyi and her agent Lucas Ling, I no longer think Zhang Ziyi is innocent.

But you're not.
You assume you know how these charity things work. You assume honorable people actually do what they say. That when an honorable person donates, that it's a fact. That it's not dishonorable to expose an honorable person who gets into financial trouble and can't satisfy a promise. Wake up. There has been a financial catastrophe in the west. The earthquakes keep happening and people still need money, but the money isn't in a bottomless pocket. It's not a bad thing for you to question how things work, but you're over the line if you think you can slander someone. Finding facts and exposing impropriety is very difficult.
Do the honorable thing and cool your jets. Unless you just want to ruin someone for the fun of ruining. If you want to join the civilized world, be civil. If you don't, then please cash in your computer chips and get off the net.
Ziyi doesn't have to show you anything. Keep banging on her and she'll leave her beloved country. I, personally, can't wait. She'll have a lot more fun over here. Everyone does.
Once again be civil, or get out. If you don't know what civil means, ask your mother and father. Start there. -

True. If Ziyi doesn't want to expose those who made the pledges to donate but have so far failed to do so(though I think once a pledge's been made, one is legally liable to make a donation). At least gives the public a complete break-down of the amount of money she actually has raised at the fundraisers she held in the name of earthquake victims. Like the list of donors who had actually donated and how much each of them has contributed etc.

The more self-contradictory things are sometimes Ziyi said in the interview that she raised 1M USD, sometimes it was 1.5M USD (or 10M RMB), sometimes it was 5M USD. These are grounded evidences from Ziyi Zhang's media interview video from her own mouth. Now her agent claimed they only raised half million. Instead admit herself lied, Ziyi told media that her friends who offered help during the earthquake donation lied after they pledged to donate, such as celebrities Roberta Armani, Joins Hollywood Reporter Eric Mika, Cannes artistic director Thierry Frmaux etc. Would you like to be a friend of Ziyi?

True. The figure ranges from several mil USD to 50,000 USD. Such discrepancy and inconsistency indeed engenders suspicion.
There are video footages showing Ziyi, speaking in person, that she has already raised 1 million USD for the earthquake victims and she would keep track of these money after dispensing them to government departments charging with the relieve and reconstruction effort in the aftermath of Sichuan earthquake.
Now, all of a sudden, she claims that all but only 50,000 USD of that amount are no more than pledges, empty promises -

hmm.this scandal revolves around Ziyi's alleged embezzlement of oversea charity money for earthquake victims, not her personal pledge/donation.
Hypothesis: if Ziyi has indeed embezzled several million USD of oversea donation, what is it for her to take a meagre 1 million RMB out of that windfall and donate it to the victims(beside, only 840,000 RMB before the scandal being exposed)
Most importantly, the donation of 1 million RMB to earthquake victims is an act independent of her alleged embezzlement. Her personal donation, though much appreciated, can not acquit her of any potential legal liability in the event of failing to properly manage and dispensing the oversea money she raised in the name of earthquake victims. -

I read online yesterday that Chorpard headquarter is very mad about Ziyi Zhang said in her statement that the donation discrepancy of earthquake donation comes from the failure donators keeping their pledges. Chorpard claimed they have made the donation and are investigate into the case.

OMGjust caught this on CNN Ireport - "Chinese Superstar Ziyi Zhan1c84g Suspected Of Embezzling Earthquake Relief Funds." http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-405342 Though this is not vetted by CNN, it's still going to generate a lot of heat. Her boyfriend Vivi is the biggest shareholder of Time Warner which also owns CNN I think. Hope he can do something for her to clear her name. ZZ, come out and clear your name yourself. This is getting out of hand.

Latest update: China's most watched tv channel, CCTV(with the dubious honour of being widely regarded as the mouthpiece of the chinese government) has dedicated two entire news/current affair shows to the reporting of this scandal.
Some very harsh questions have been raised in the show(s). e.g. why the amount of money Ziyi claims to have raised through her fundraisers still remain a mystery to date? (the reported amount ranges from an honourable 7 million USD to a measly 50,000 USD, depending on which version of the report you are reading). CCTV is in effect calling for more accountability and transparency on the part of Ziyi Zhang.
This certainly doesn't bode well for Ziyi. CCTV always toe the government's line and this may forebode the impending action chinese authority's gonna to take against Ziyi. -

The video clip that shows Ziyi openly admitting at a press conference that she has successfully raised 1 million USD in charity money.

Curiously though, according to a series of interviews with Lucas Ling, Ziyi's long time agent after the star is engulfed in the scandal, only half a million USD has been raised(of which only 50,000 USD has actually been collected)by Ziyi.
