This film isn't going to win any awards, but if you can possibly accept it on its own terms not bad, not bad at all.
You wind up feeling sorry for the girl (Gillian), and you kind of almost want her to succeed in getting what she wants, despite her "faults". Credit to Yvonne Zima, who gives a very effective performance, convincing when she's supposed to be disturbing, and at other times charismatic, and sympathetic.
Like I said, you feel sorry for the character, as everything begins to close in on her. Without the usual melodrama of killing the guy's sister (accidentally?), and trying to kill her stepmother, this could have stood out as an even better psychological study of a girl's downward spiral.
YZ had to carry the film, and she succeeded in that.
