Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Rob Zombie

    stanleyrichmond — 11 years ago(September 15, 2014 10:53 AM)

Crowd funding? You gotta be beep me. His movie career is dead in the water because of god awful plots like this one "31" He can't get a single dollar from any studio to make one of his self indulgent snuff films so now he's asking for money from his fans, the very people who have made him rich over the last 20 years. Does anyone else see how insulting this is? He's a millionaire who has the money to produce this crap but instead of putting his own dollars on the table he figured he can just get it from his fans so when this thing tanks he isn't held accountable financially. This guy needs to go away.

You're making a lot of assumptions here, most of which are false.
The biggest one being that Rob Zombie has infinite money or that he's not putting any of his own into the project.
And it has nothing to do with having a dead career but what the studios are willing to give a shot on. Guillermo del Toro is a huge name in Hollywood, much bigger than RZ. Go ask him how Hellboy III or At the Mountains of Madness are doing.

Yes, they say that with piracy being so high now and people not paying to see anything anymore (just downloading it online for free instead), it's hard for movies to make a good profit now. Therefore only movies that are guaranteed to make money are even financed. That's the reason half a dozen superhero movies, sequels, and remakes are released every week now because they're proven to make big bucks. If they aren't sure it'll make money they don't even risk it now which is very unfortunate.

He is fully capable of funding his own projects. I think yob68u guys are missing a huge aspect of this milking he is doing. Funding your own project means he is able to have full creative control. That alone should be reason to buck up and fund your own project. Nohe wants his cake and to eat it too so he's getting full control and not risking a dime. The fans should be highly offended.
You paid to make it. Youll pay to see it. And youll be blamed for the poor quality due to low budget when the bad reviews roll in. Rob is just floating care free above all of you.

Wrong. Rob is putting his own money into it in addition to the money from crowdfunding.

Yes, you have made many posts about him, haven't you? For someone you don't even like you seem to have a touch of obsession. It's one thing to dislike someone's movies, but spending all of your free time complaining about them is another. One has to wonder if you're not jealous of him since he's made 6 films that are very well known among horror fans and you think it should be you that has all that fame and recognition. Since you mention your college education in every post of yours that's the impression I get.

There's a lot of reunions at conventions for devils rejects and corpses too. People still care obviously. Can't wait for days of dead devils rejects

Translation: "I am a very bitter maker of wedding videos. Curse the world for not recognizing my 'talent'. I hate Rob Zombie for living the dream, while I'm stuck here in my mom and dad's basement rapidly growing older and more angry. Shooting little league and high school football games on the weekend for 50 dollars a pop really sucks. Woe is me."

How to respond to an internet argument:

                                    1. Hit "reply" when a threatening blowhard with too much time on his hands rants and raves about being "disrespected" after showing not one iota of the respect they so utterly demand from others.
                                    2. Point out that they're threatening to create a lawsuit based on nothing more than internet commentary. That they are threatening to spend thousands of dollars on legal council because they were, essentially, called a loser. Perhaps grow thicker skin if you feel the need to comment on someone elses' career.
                                    3. Pointing out that Rob Zombie is the "worst" film maker in the world after having claimed to attend film school speaks to an unbelievable lack of exposure to film criticism and objective viewing: Manos; the Hands of Fate featured sloppy editing, sound that failed to sync, and a bizarre inability to remain in focus. You are also claiming that Coleman Francis was a better film director? Del Tenney? Tommy Wisseau?
If you are successful in your c5b4hosen field, then great. More power to you. But if you're really just a sad, bitter, pathetic old jackanapes looking for internet arguments and an opportunity to utilize Scooby Doo tropes ("If it weren't for you meddlin' kids!") then have at it and enjoy your life for whatever purpose it's being lived.
