I do agree with what he said2000 in the sense that if all people could do make a living from doing something creative then that'd be great, but he knows that that's not very likely to happen, and he was only saying it in a jokey way. I think he just wanted to make the presenters feel slightly uncomfortable by saying something they didn't expect. I wouldn't take it too seriously.

I saw Morrissey's limo arrive at the London Palladium last week, it parked across a pedestrian crossing and he marched in while his security team pushed back the handful of people waiting to meet him.

I missed the very start of that programme, but that statement makes me love Morrissey even more!!!
I have to laugh at everyone saying that Morrissey doesn't understand what it's like to live in poverty etc etc, when he grew up in a working class background and was unemployed for years. I believe he is making the point here that why should people bother working themselves to the bone to make a pittance and struggle anyway, when they could just do something they like, something creative for example, and make the same? When people want to be artists, musicians, actors, writers, dancers etc they are always told that there is hardly any money in it and they should look for better jobs, but now the 'better jobs' aren't paying as much either, so why not do what you love? It's not very realistic, but it is a fair point, and I doubt there is any danger of anyone who doesn't actually listen to Morrissey's music paying any heed to what he says anyway.

I dont particularly like morrissey, i just find him an annoying and miserable old bastard. Some people seem to think of him as a genius and well, thats fair enough, each to their own. I do like his comment though, dont we all wish we could pack in the crappy day job and do something we enjoy?
