Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Morrissey

So I'm watching football and a commercial comes on for the NFL. The tune in the background sounds somewhat familiar but then at the end they have some singer sing the phrase "Every day is like Sunday."
Did Morrissey sell his song to the NFL? That doesn't sound like something he would do. Anyway, it struck me as odd

      Yes, well, he must've.
So, he and Streetie are getting royalties.

Yeah, I heard that also. Someone had to have sold it to the NFL without his knowledge because I can guarantee you he would never agree to that horrible rendition.

That is a really horrible version of that song, but how can you really guarantee that he wouldn't have sold it? Maybe performer Morrissey wouldn't sanction it, but private, looking-to-make-a-buck Morrissey might.

It makes sense to me. football was a big part of his childhood so it wouldn't surprise me.

Are you referring to what us americans call "soccer"? The NFL and soccer are two completely different things, lol.
