HRH The Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker-Bowles has stated that she doesn't want to be queen.
However due to the current British laws, wives must take on the ranks of their husband and it would be unprecedented for Camilla not to become queen if her husband is crowned king.
What about Prince Phillip? why is he not known as King Phillip?
If she doesn't want to be known as Queen who is to stop her?
as the Head of State Charles has a right to say yes or no doesn't he? -

Elizabeth II will live to be 100.
Charles might be King but for how long??
E has no intention of every stepping down and the idea of Camilla as Queen that would kill her. Come to think of itthat might be the one thing that will kill E.
Perhaps she doesn't think about it that much because her blood pressure goes up. -

Yes. She can never have the title of "Queen" because she was married into the family and not born. That's also the reason why Prince Philip isn't "King" Philip. It's all a matter of bloodline.

Queen is typically viewed as inferior to King, so a woman of non royal bllod can be a queen to a husband who is a king and still not outrank him.
Phillip is a prince so that his title does not outrank his wife's. -

You made somewhat the same point as I would have madeDiana, had she lived and had she stayed married to Charles, would've been Queen in due course. As I understand it, it would take an Act of Parliament for Camilla to NOT be, in fact, queen consort, although I can understand her being hesitant to actually use the title. There have been at least two instances of a queen's husband being styled as king of England, but both were kings in their own right prior to the marriage (Phillip of Spain, husband of Mary I, and William of Orange who married Mary II).

Hello mhansen2,
When Charles becomes King, Camilla will become Queen Consortjust as Princess Diana would have, had she lived, and of course had they remained married.
Why am I not surprised to see you on this board..LOL..didn't even know Camilla had one!
