Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Alicia Keys

    Alpha Raven Andromeda — 6 years ago(January 07, 2020 10:20 AM)

She's made dozens of songs that I really enjoyed. She's had a wonderful career up until a certain point. Then it was like after she got pregnant, I have no idea what happened. I haven't heard one top 10 song from Alicia since.
Alicia Keys has a certain unique talent for using musical arrangements within her songs to convey 'sexiness'. A sexy mood… I don't know how she does it. Certain songs of hers ooze sex appeal or romance.
Unthinkable (I'm ready) is one of those songs. It's unusual for an singer/songwriter/musician to make mood music and the content still be relevant, original and meaningful.
But then she had to go get married and have a child. Now I cannot enjoy good new music from her because it's like her completely new purpose in life is as a mom and wife. But what about her passion? I thought her music career was her passion. Why neglect that part. Madonna was able to do both and other female celebrities went back to making hits after the time off. I don't get it. Alicia still has fans out there.
Here's the song I love. Feel the mood.

I remember being so fascinated by her when I first listened to her. I have two of her albums and have seen her in concert.

I love that song too and gets me in a “married” mood.
Also “You don’t know my name”

You Don't Know My Name reminded me of the music produced by Motown Records during the 1970s, and it also had a Doo Wop sound to it.
I thought AS I AM was an incredible record. Among the singles released, I liked this one the most. I listened to it dozens of times. Spotify assumed I liked that song because of the African drums, but the reason I liked the song had very little to do with finding an African boyfriend.
Furthermore, I think people from 3rd world countries relate to music in a way that kind of weirded me out. That's a huge reason why I don't like sharing my music playlist. They don't understand that the majority of American citizens especially natural born citizens like me, we aren't brainwashed by marketing like immigrants and visitors to the US or even just citizens living in other countries trying to analyze us or interpreting what US citizens do.
This is the song I love
