But to give my own answer to the OP, what is happening right now in hip-hop is that we're seeing a shift in focus. We're going away from one type of hip-hop and moving into a new one. We see the focus being taken away from the violent and misogynistic songs and moving more into honesty and "casual" tales told in a unique way. Drake personifies this new style and he basically is carrying the torch. This frightens some people (aka haters) because Drake is a threat. He is this new force that they do not like and in turn they do everything in their power to fight it (by going into ev1908ery corner of the net talking sh!t about dude).
Drake has made it possible for international rappers to have a REALISTIC chance to actually break through in hip-hop. Drake has also made it very appealing and fresh to mix different genres into hip-hop. Im not talking about samples or collaborations, but rappers actually themselves delving into new genres and fusing it with rap. This is a very fresh and revitalizing thing for hip-hop, but some people frown upon these new additions so they simply hate on him.

Haters are people who take their 'hatred' for a person, place or thing over the top.
It goes from criticism and dislike to just pure insulting, which most of the time they can never back up.

Actually a lot of people hate on 50 Cent and Eminem. And I can see why. Drake sounds all the same and y'all make it sound like people hate on him, because he is rich and famous, which is certainly not the case.

I never understood why people hate on Drake either. Although, I have to admit the some of the memes are funny, I just don't understand where all that hate comes from.

I wasn't going to hate on him till I saw Drakes performance on Jay Leno Tonight Show. It was a "singing" song, not one of his rap songs. It was so terrible. It's not often that I am motivated to get up and google a performer based on how out of tune they are. It was really uncomfortable just to watch.

People are just stupid and don't always except everyone. I wasn't really into Robin Thicke when I heard Lost Without You but ending up falling in love with his music. Drake is dope to me but to someone else he might suck because they don't wanna like him for whatever lame reason it maybe. Just think of all the haters he has more people that love the boy then don't. That's how I look at him. The world is you either hate or love a person ya know.

I think he's a good actor but his music to me is just lame. Doesn't mean that I hate him, and people who like him should not get offended if someone hates or calls him a loser, more of Drake for you to have.

I don't hate Drake I just think he should stick to acting because he's not that great of a rapper. Not sure why many folks consider him 'legend' tier because he's about as far away from there as one can get. His songs are unappealing to me mostly, same as Nicki Minaj. Everyone places her on a pedestal spouting "She's the greatest out right now!" when she isn't either.

All of his music isn't great but for the most part, he's good. Although I think his older stuff is better. Some people hate just because he is "mainstream" and think all mainstream music sucks. Not all mainstream music sucks, just people being closed-minded and assuming.

I have nothing against him. I don't like nor dislike him. I just think he's a terrible rapper, one of the worst in a long time, and that's bad because 99% of today's mainstream rappers are terrible. This is coming from someone from Drake's hometown.

First off: Do NOT compare Drake To EM Eminem is on a different level. Secondly: Drake doesn't know what he wants to be, a singer or a rapper? He also writes beep for the ladies and talks about how tough he is when in actuality he grew up in a rich community. He's a poser and a fake, and is lucky that lil Wayne signed him because he's the reason why he's famous. Drake is quite popular and I don't know why he's overrated. What pisses me off is he thinks he discovered The Weeknd, when it's beep It was because of the INTERNET buzz.
