Aimee commented on the segment of a political skit on SNL in which in which her appearance was mocked. She said she is not thin skinned but found it to be "mean and unfunny".
Reacting to the sketch on Instagram Stories, Aimee wrote: "I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny xo."
"Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple of weeks ago," she continued. "Yes, take the piss for sure – that's what the show is about – but must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?"
In a follow up, Aimee revealed that she's had "apologies from SNL". She also went on to explain why the sketch was so hurtful, and also defended cast member Sarah Sherman.
"The last thing I’ll say on the matter," Aimee continued. "I am not thin-skinned. I actually love being taken the p— out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth."
"I don’t mind caricature - I understand that’s what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on."
She later added: “Actually one last thing. Not Sarah Sherman’s fault. Not hating on her, hating on the concept."
I think she's beautiful and good for her for standing up for herself

I'd say it was her beautiful eyes and smile.
The insinuation was that Brits don't know what fluoride is and that her teeth were bad.
The joke doesn't work because her teeth are not bad.

I watched the sketch online and while it wasn't funny at all I don't think the joke was meant to be about the British having bad teeth. I didn't even know this woman was British. The false teeth they used were nearly identical to hers.

It was definitely about that.
“I'm having these insane ideas like, what if we took all the fluoride out of the drinking water? But what would that do to people's teeth?” RFK Jr., played by host Jon Hamm, says. The clip then cuts to SNL cast member Sarah Sherman as Chelsea, wearing exaggerated fake teeth: “Fluoride? What's that?”

It was a joke about her teeth but I don't think it had anything to do with her being British. It was about her specifically having odd looking teeth, which she does. It's something she has talked about herself many times.
