Actually she explained it on an episode of her talk show that was cancelled. Her grandfather is half black and Native American. Her dad is black. Its actually a sad story. Although he was black and Native American he could pass for white and when he got into his mid-life crisis he decided to leave his black family and live his life as a "white" man. He actually had another family. Ananda's mother said that she couldnt even go to his funeral because she thought that he wouldnt want his white family to find out and even after all he did to her family she still honored him. Sad, right? Anyway because of her hair (which is absolutely gorgeous) she said that people always ask her "what are you mixed with" and she flat out tells them that she is a black woman and proud of it. I say good for her.

The woman says she is black because that is what she is. How can you be so damn ignorant? Most blacks have Native American and/or white heritage. . . but at the end of the day we are all still black. If you are that ignorant of the black culture, then stay out of it. You sound like a complete idiot.

Thanks for the information. And not to get on my soap box or anything, but she really is only 3/4 black if that's the case. I guess she just says she's black, b/c she was raised by a black parent only.
No. She says she's black because she is mostly black and because she looks it.
All races are mixed, but they are mostly one or the other. For example, most white people are mixed with African and Indian but they still are mostly white. Just like Ananda is mostly black. -

@mizzhollywood
We already know that black Americans (like myself) are mixed with probably everybody under the sun, but,hell,a lot of white Americans aren't 100% white eitherthat's what the other poster was pointing outheck,even some Latinos and Arabs and white folks have what some of us would call "black" featuresthe full lips, the broad noses, somewhat kinky hairall that. I do realize that some of these features aren't exclusive to black peoplejust pointing out there are a lot of mixed white folks out theresome of them won't admit it,though. -

Somebody in the background isn't black otherwise the hair would be kinky
In that case, why do some white Jewish people have frizzy/curly or even kinky hair? Chelesea Clinton and Amy Irving have very curly/frizzy somewhat kinky hair. Apparently, someone in their backgrounds is a black ancestor.
