Despite the mediocre box office performance of the recent and extremely average 'Get Rich or Die Trying' 50 Cent film that flopped, Universal are planning a similar project on 35 year old rapper - producer Missy's life, to be produced by Robert De Niro's company. Despite the fact that Missy probably can't act and will need coaching for a few months, at least the film can be guaranteed to have a great soundtrack she'll produce for it. The Variety story is below.

Missy in biopic mix.
U, Tribeca plan movie around rapper.
By CHRIS GARDNER.
Universal Pictures is putting rapper Missy Misdemeanor Elliott in the biopicbiopic mix.
Studio has acquired a pitch from scribe Dianne Houston based on Elliott's life. Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal are on board to produce through their Gotham-based Tribeca Films shingle along with Elliott's manager Mona Scott. Project is currently untitled.
Houston came up with the idea and took it to Scott, who helped flesh it out with the scribe and Elliott. Houston then took the project to longtime friend Rosenthal. Tribeca has a first-lookfirst-look deal with Universal.
Elliott has been in business with Universal before: She had a role in the Jessica Alba starrer 'Honey'. The deal for her biopic follows films based on two of rap's biggest male names, 50 Cent (Get Rich or Die Tryin') and Eminem (8 Mile). Universal distributed the latter.
Born in Portsmouth, Va., in 1971, Elliott began her musical career with the girl group Sista. She then segued to a producing career before breaking out as a solo artist more than 10 years ago. Elliott writes and produces much of her own music. Houston received an Oscar nom for her work on the short film Tuesday Morning Ride. She penned the recent release Take the Lead and sold a pitch to Participant Prods. titled Zoot, based on the life story of Zoot Valasco. -

who the hell would want to see a movie about her life? she cant rap, she cant dance, sh5b4e cant do beep the only thing that has brought her to where she is in her career is good production, and that has nothing to do with her talent! shes also the most annoying woman in the music industry, vanilla ice deserves a biopic over this piece of trash.

This is going to be some weak biopic. Because everyone knows Missy is a lesbian but of course since the black American community is so homophobic they will leave this important part of Missy's life out. People know the deal about Missy being gay, MC LYTE is bisexual/lesbian and Queen Latifah is a lesbian.

NO, the people AROUND her can dance. She just moves awkardly and it seems like she is dancing too. And she really is talentless, shes a female rapper. One of the only ones with good production and who knows people in the industry, the artists your talking about who didnt last are the ones who are probably male rappers, a dime a dozen. The FACT is, she without a doubt does not deserve her own biopic. She barely deserves an E! True Hollywood Story.

so she wrote songs for some who CAN sing? anyone with a pen and some time can do that my friend. she is lucky that she is a female rapper, there arent many around therefore she doesnt have many with the kind of production she has to compete. she isnt a talented rapper, she CAN NOT DANCE..i dont care what anyone says, her songs are nothing more then her talking about sex or her body which isnt great anyway, the whole point of me being on this board is that its just a shame that money, time and effort are going to be spent to make a biopic on someone who DOESNT deserve it.

They most likely will.
There is a rumor going around that a well known female MC is about to come out of the closet and it will conincide with a movie on her life being released. I think it is her (not that anyone should be surprised that she is a lesbian).
