In 1981, when Archbishop Runcie referred to the story of Charles and Diana as a fairy tale, I felt a shiver go up and down my spine.
Dr RuncieI said to the image on TV, are you an expert on fairy tales? Do you know any other fairy tales besides Cinderella's? Because, if you really knew that genre of literature at all, then you would know that not all of those tales have happy endings, but instead that there are plenty of those stories with sad and even tragic endings. There are even fairy tales with Romeo and Juliet-type plots!
In other words, Archbishop Runcie pretty much put a jinx on Charles and Diana.
Could that also be the case with William and Kate? I pray not; at least he has the tale of his parents as a cautionary example of the mistakes that can founder a marriage.

Like everybody else in 1981 I was not aware of that at the time.
I myself have suffered a lot of terrible torment and evil mischief because I was pressured into making choices that I knew were not good for me.
