How has she regressed so severely as an actress?

She's having the same problem Dakota Fanning is having.
Talented compared to her competition as a child because she was precocious and ahead of her time. Now everyone has caught up and she hasn't changed shxt.
Both need to step it up if they want to compete in the adult world because both are super bland for their acting now compared to what they used to be. -

Most child actors have this issue. Remember what a hot commodity Haley Joel Osment was when he was a little boy? Now he has a hard time getting plum roles. How about Elijah Wood? Hallie Eisenberg? Mara Wilson ('Matilda')? Jonathan Lipnicki ('Jerry Maguire'). And the list could go on, cute kid actors who failed to become hot stars as adults.
The ones who make a successful transition from cute child actor to accomplished adult actor are few, Breslin may be one that fails. She has made a lot of money, I hope her financial advisors have most of it invested.

Elijah Wood arguably has been still relevant as an adult.
That aside, I see what you are saying. It just seemed that since Fanning and Breslin were still doing ok as older kids they would make the transition well. But they haven't. I see Dakota just becoming a director at this point. -

It's worth remembering that not all child actors want to become 'hot stars' as adults.
They don't always get to have normal childhoods, and come to crave that normalcy as an adult. I'm sure some retreat deliberately just as often as opportunities dry up for others.

I wouldn't say Dakota Fanning and Abigail Breslin are comparable tbh.
Unlike Breslin, Fanning was a talented child actress who had potential to develop into a great adult actress.
I would say that Fanning has regressed an an actress; she has yet to reach the same level she did as a child. This is made even more obvious now that she's competing with other actresses in her age group, e.g Jennifer Lawrence and Saoirse Ronan who are already miles ahead of her. She really has to step up her game if she wants to keep up imo.
Breslin on the other hand was an average child actress who has grew up to be an average adult actress. -

I wouldn't say Fanning has regressed but she definitely isn't a really good adult actress and maybe she never will be. Breslin is cute and is an okay actress but she was never amazing. I don't mind her though.

i have not seen the show the previews looked terrible. Abigail was great in little miss sunshine and The Call she does have talent her choice in projects might be questionable though
I'm gonna show you something beautiful everyone screaming for mercy -

I'll say one thing, Abigail is still a phenominally better actress than her friend Chloe Grace Moretz. Want proof? Here it is: she beat out Chloe for her role in August: Osage County, while having a 103 degree temperature! Even when deathly ill, Abigail Breslin can act circles around that girl. And besides, I'd rather be remembered as Olive Hoover than Hit-Girl.

You can't go by Scream Queens. Her character was highly annoying as it was meant to be. All of the Chanel's were meant to be spoilt, unintelligent, whigny brats. Except Emma Roberts who is actually highly annoying in everything. Abigail did a really good job in The Call. I don't think she has regressed. Yes she was exceptional especially in Little Miss Sunshine, but she was a child playing child parts. Watch The Call. It's a really good thriller.

She's my favourite Chanel. No idea if she's a great actress, but she's great in that role.
Scream Queens was one of the best new shows of 2015. It's doing something different, so not everyone gets it. Which is cool. -

Bad choices and maybe she need a new agent.
The first thing I ever saw with Abigail was "Signs", and she was as good as Dakota Fanning in "War of the Worlds".
I saw her then in a few episodes of series like L&O:SVU and NCIS, until "Little Miss Sunshine", I think most of the cast is outstanding.
I liked her in films like "No Reservations" and "Definitely, Maybe", average films and she did her work well.
Now, I think she was very good in "My Sister's Keeper", that film has a very good child cast. I haven't seen much of her films after "Zombieland" (ok performance), I have "August: Osage County", "Ender's Game" and "Wicker Blood" on DVD but I haven't seen the films yet (looking forward to see August).
"The Call" was my introduction to a grown-up teenager Abigail and I think she did a good job. "Perfect Sisters" wasn't bad neither, but no outstanding performance.
Now, I really dislike "Scream Queens", I could barely watch the first 2 episodes and then quit. Not my kind of thing and I think she's wasting time (but making money) in there.
I thik Abigail can become a talented A-List adult actress, but she needs to keeo learning and pick better roles. If she dares, she could be as good as Jodie Foster. I hope she finds her way.

I really don't think Abigail Breslin is a bad actress. Her performance in 'Final Girl' as Veronica really stood out for me
If 'Scream Queens' doesn't show what she can do, then she needs to pick better roles. -

The genre of Scream Queens is camp/parody. Chewing the scenery is par for the course, and Abigail has been doing a fantastic job bringing her character to life within the confines of the universe established by the writers/directors.
Her portrayal is of a person who feels entitled through her wealth or history of wealth, yet faces constant disappointments and rejections from her closest friends. I think she is quite masterful in doing this. You can't help but hurt for Chanel #5 when being the punching bag for Chanel and Chanel #3 and hold on to hope when she faces the very slim possibility that she will end up happy.
