Many African-Americans (hell Black people outside of Africa, and even
    Africa
, which is a huge continent BTW) aren't "just" Black. "Black" is a term that was made up to describe someone with darker skin, and now means different things to different people, the world over. Black in this country doesn't necessarily mean Black in another, which is why I don't really like using the term - because it doesn't describe me, nor my African-American heritage. When it comes to Jessica, I would describe her as "Afro"-American with multiethnic heritage, just like I would an Afro-French, or Afro-British person. At the end of the day, though - she can identify how she likes. If she's like Paula Patton, Halle Berry, Zoe Saldana, and other multiethnic women that describe themselves as "Black," or women of African descent, or "women of color," we should respect that.

After that, I said I think it was good they chose a biracial person as her mother, since one of her parents actually IS biracial.
The actress who plays her mother is Gina Torres, and she is NOT biracial. Gina Torres is an American actress born to two Afro-Cuban parents. Her parents are both black Cubans, she's not biracial, nor does she look it. Jessica Szhor's character on
            Gossip Girl
is meant to be half black, despite being a quarter black in reality.
I've known she was black since the first day I saw her on
            Gossip Girl
            .

Her dad is half black which means she is less than 24% black.

She does remotely look black. The problem is that in the U.S. people who are only part black are designated as black, and this means, when someone says J is part black, people automatically accept that to mean J IS black. I don't know why you expect a part black person to look like someone who's fully black. She can NEVER resemble a fully black person because she's only PART black.
She looks like someone who IS part black not just black. When I saw her I thought she was Afro-Hispanic (ie. Alex Rodriquez), but I was weary of saying anything since people from Latin America are ashamed of their African heritage and like to deny it (Sammy Sosa/Alex Rodriquez). Anyway, I was right, J is part black.
PS. Notice I never said she was black, but part black; and yes, she looks part black.
She's beautiful don't get me wrong but
she doesn't even remotely look black weird
                      Right wing Conservatives scare me

The African American part comes from her father.

Is some people don't think Jessica's black is one thing. But if you want to go by the history in this country (USA) yes, she is mixed, but would be labeled black. I think people are judging her looks too much. If Jessica doesn't fit what their stereotypes of an African-American is, well then, she probably not a black person.

^Actually, her father is Hungarian (hence the name Szohr) and her mother is half black and half Hungarian.
Where did you hear otherwise? Did you just assume or what?
