What games? If they aren't Sony exclusives there's a good chance you can play them on the PC if you have a decent enough computer.

I bought a cheap one in 2016 to record high def video and 5.1 audio with a Hauppauge capture card. It's done well.

Most games that start off as PlayStation exclusives normally arrive on the PC down the road regardless. A computer running Windows 11 is significantly more powerful in comparison to a PlayStation or an Xbox regardless.

What’s the purpose of having a PlayStation or an Xbox if the PC can play the same games with better graphics? A laptop is essentially a portable console.

Sometimes the consoles can elevate your tv viewing experience. Like in the age of DVD they’d double as a dvd player.
I assumed a ps3 might have a suite of good apps and who knows what else. I’ve already decided to pass

Consoles are cheaper than a laptop, and they’re not as durable. For instance, you’re ****ed if the keyboard breaks on a laptop. On a console, it’s easy to replace.

There isn't. If you have a decent PC there's no need for a console. The main reason ppl game on consoles rather than pcs is affordability. You can have a top of the range pc, but give it 3 months and you'll need to upgrade something or another costing a small fortune. It typically goes like that until the pc can no longer be upgraded.
Betrer yet, if you have a pc strictly for gaming, I'd suggest building one with said specifics rather than buy one off the shelf. Not only will you save a fortune, but you built it and can easily customize it however you like.
