I can't work on this show because its gonnna take up too much time and I need to be with my dying father. And then a week later she takes a job on a new show. She just wanted to jump from a sinking ship to to a life raft. Only problem is this new odd couple series is a bad joke of an idea. I hope it fails for this reason alone.

She already had the job on the new show, they just bumped her to series regular. It's a multi-cam sitcom that doesn't require near the same amount of hours to film.

I did lose respect for her when I found out she left Community, but is still working, and not taking the time for her father like she said

She took a job with more stable hours that takes less time to shoot. She did what worked best for her and her family. Shows like Community take a ton more time to shoot that The Odd Couple. Also, she owes nothing to us. She didn't even owe us an explanation, but she gave one.

I watched the pilot on-demand and my god that was an awful, awful show. It really pisses me off that she made everyone feel sorry for her and then is immediately doing trash like that.

Meh whatever. She was the only one of the group who never entertained me anyways so I don't care. I'm glad she's not on any more. I miss Troy though.

Are you really comparing the hours of a multi-cam sitcom and a single-cam sitcom (especially one as ambitious as Community)? Shirley is my favorite character but her reason for leaving is legitimate.
                  In her words:
My father has dementia [] and Im his only caregiver. [] I couldnt do that working 80 hours a week, but now its like 25 hours a week, and thats great for me.
"We shoot five minutes from my house. I can go home and see my dad at lunch, make sure hes OK, bring him back with me if I want to. He can come to the tapings. Its just an easier, more relaxing type of environment. And he needs me."
