Saw her on Oprah and some other shows. She is lovely. So what if she married the wrong guy and fell in love with Jerry before or after. Both were rich, it wasn't like one was poor and the other rich otherwise you could call her a gold digger. Leave her alone, they have 3 kids and she seems happily married to Jerry and he seems supportive. Maybe there was a book out already. But how many cook books are there out there on chicken or pasta? She may have taken her book to a new level. Plus in her book she really gets heavy about junk food and obesity and some of the statistics in her book are quite frightning.
The book is not only receipes it's about smart commensense eating for your children, without the tears and tantrums. Give her a break. Good on you Jessica, well done. -

rennaerussel2, while I completely respect your opinion I disagree. Not with the person life stuffthat is her deal and who am I to judge. What I do disagree with is her not giving credit where credit is due. I just posted on the Oprah board, after discussing this at length with my coworkers. I will repost my thoughts here.
It is interesting to read how many people are coming to Mrs. Seinfelds defense. That is fine, but what I do not understand is that people can't see the difference plagiarism and making something your own. Many cookbooks contain basic recipes that require only a few ingredients, or which are traditional and have become public domain since they were published so long ago. For example, how many different ways do you think there are to make a flatbread, like Naan? Or to make hollandaise sauce? Or pecan puffs aka Mexican Wedding cookies (or Swedish, according to your book)? With many recipe especially baked goods that have 3-5 ingredients that depend on the ration of said ingredients for consistency it is not surprising that many recipes are similar. Traditional recipes are the same, honestly, we all know what goes into a traditional spaghetti. It wouldn't be surprising to see similar recipes for that or even for a new england clam chowder.
It IS very surprising though- to see similar or identical recipes that are complicated, totally non-traditional or contain really exotic food pairings, like avocado into chocolate pudding. That is what makes it totally different. With one you are working from a general tradition that has lasted for hundreds of years and you are working from a general pool of knowledge and expectation of what the recipes are, in the latter case you are taking directly away from an individual without crediting them. Whether or not it ends up selling more books, the intent is still harmful. Most people would not want someone robbing their house, even if news of the robbery indirectly drums up more business for them professionally. You had no choice in the robbery, that was the violation, you had no choice in what was taken from you.
In my humble opinion, Oprah should address this as she did for the A Million Little Pieces author James Frey- at least he was just lying not stealing someone else's work. Mrs. Seinfeld is selling so many copies of this book because she appeared on Oprah. I know Oprah can't screen everyone she talks about down to the last detail, but given what has come out I think she should address it. It's not fair for Mrs. Seinfeld to be getting the credit for someone else's hard work, much less the money. If Oprah had had the other author on, she would be the one selling megatons. Sorry, but Oprah does have that much selling power when it comes to books. -

So she dumps the man she married a couple weeks prior for a new and improved version, and you're all fired up about the recipes in her flippin' cookbook?
So your spouse can cheat on you and leave you, and you'll be ok with it, but don't dare let him/her take credit for something he/she didn't do! That would be despicable! -

the book wasn't on chicken and pasta it was on sneaking veggies into children's foods and is almost identical to the woman who sued them (who incidentally jerry is being SUED for calling her foul names and slandering her on Letterman) I hope the chef who was ripped off wins on all couns and these two whiny people walk off with their tails between their legs.
