Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Lebron James

Here's an interesting article to read through.
    http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/throughthearch/entries/2010/07/12/the_10_greatest_trios_in_nba_h.html
After running through that and examining some of the league's best all time and current trios, I don't think any of those teamings have the accomplishments, talent, and potential that Bosh, James, and Wade have ALONG with their age. I don't think any team has had or has stars as good as these three are all at the same time. Before people jump down my throat, let me expalin. Plenty of those teams featured either one or two players that were decidedly of a lesser caliber than the star or stars OR had one or two (or three in the case of the '08 Celtics) stars who were past or just leaving their primes. Some have players who were just barely All-Stars. James and Wade are perennial All-Stars and Bosh is knocking at the door, though he's gotten overlooked a time or two. They are all arguably top 3 players at their respective positions, with Wade and James possibly being not only the best at their position, but best players in the league. Also, LeBron and Bosh are pretty much just entering their primes and Wade is there. James and Wade both won scoring titles a couple of seasons ago and Bosh is a steady 20+ and 10 power forward. Is there any team that can match what these guys have done thus far, plus their age and potential? I think not.

I agree, that's why so many people are pissed of. They are angry that some of the best players in the entire league and maybe future HOF are playing together in their prime. They can create a dynasty never seen before.

I appreciate that because I wasn't sure how to do that haha. But yea, the sky is the limit for these guys. This is something that is certainly going to be talked about long after. It's been a couple of weeks and there's already so much hype and drama around it (investigations of tampering, jersey burning, Wade and Jordan's comments). They still need to build the team and add the right pieces around them, but the possibilities are scary.

It's gonna be a tug-o-war between Wade and LeBron as to who is the team's captain. The title is Wade's but LeBron will challenge him. They're all smiles now and talk like nothing is gonna happen but wait till the season gets underway. Two captains can't command the same ship.

Who said Lebron wanted to be captain? He said in The SI Article he wanted to be more like Magic than MJ and that he was sick of having to score 35 a night in Cleveland.

yeah plus and him going in there with that attitude will help his image (that he apparantley has hurt in alot of peoples eye)he def wants to be more of a facilitator then the guy that has to take over the game. That being said he def will put uo 40 a game when he feels he has to. No one said that the second mate cant take over the game when the captain is having an off day or week or month.

In regards to size?.maybe. In regards to skill. not even close.
Dont get me wrong, they are very skilled compared to the weak league they are in. I am older than Id care to admit and seen great teams from the 60's on and all of them have their loyal fan bases. But the 80's celtics and Lakers had trios that were definitely better than the Heat. The one that would probably give them the most serious spanking would be the trio of Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman as they were among the three best defenders the league has ever seen. Jordan and Pippen were probably the best defenders and Rodman was able to shut down many centers.
Pippen took charges from Malone who was bigger and stronger than Lebron. I cannot see Wade or Bosh beating Jordan in scoring or Rodman in rebounds. The supporting team for the Bulls was also far superior as Kukoc was probably better than Bosh and maybe close to Wade. Then you had Kerr who had the highest 3 point percentage in history coming off the bench. That and other players such as Longley would clog the lane, Harper was a strong player, Bucheler for range, Wenngington for a big interior force, Williams as a strong internal player, etc. Did my homeworklol. The Bulls trio (and team) would simply overwhelm the Heat.
I give the Heat some serious credit for being a very good team. Someday, they might even be considered great. But among the greatest ever? it would be VERY difficult to realistically be mentioned amongst them in such a weak league.
