Things didn
t go that way but I agree that casting Monaghans ex is very tacky.
She1s a C list. 34 years old, already past her prime lookswise (dont bother to post heavily Photoshopped pics, Wellington premiere revealed her true face), dumb quotes and still pimping $5 shampoos. Serves her right for trying to cash in on Hunger Games mania.
Tauriels gonna suck so hard even MTV MA wont let her agent rig the votes in her fvaor.

Seriously?- She and Monaghan broke up in 2009. FIVE YEARS AGO, and well before "Hobbit" casting. Or "Hunger Games" for that matter (WTF? Tauriel has nothing to do with Katniss as a character in any way
Lord of the Rings
and its Elven archers preceded the
Hunger Games
books by years and the films by over a decade. Just FYI). - Norman Kali was not a producer. He was a
production assistant
on "Lost" who joined years after her casting. Not exactly a casting couch situation. As a principal actor, Lilly had far more power than he did so "she got knocked up by a 'Lost' producer' is not only inaccurate, it's kind of insulting to both of them. Personally, I actually like that they got together, it supports the idea that she's not a superficial person who cares about titles. - I agree that she's not A-list. But I like that about her. She made her fortune from "Lost," has options, spends lots of time on humanitarian aid and doesn't act 365 days a year. I like that being an actress doesn't seem to own her.
- But: "Past her looks?" Did you SEE "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug?" She looks absolutely gorgeous, honestly even prettier than when she played Kate. Totally movie-star stunning, and she moves beautifully too. Meanwhile, 34 is hardly "past her prime" (unless you're a 16 year old fanboy). She easily looks mid-20s even on IMAX.
- She hawks shampoos on occasion for the same reason plenty of A-C-list actresses do, it's a good gig for huge money, the residuals are insane, and it's a way also to keep themselves 'present' without a lot of PR effort.
I'm not even a huge fan of Lilly's (I like her but wouldn't say I follow her life or career constantly), but I was totally gobsmacked and amused by the picture you paint of Lilly as some aging desperate starlet who seduced a producer [right after dumping her boyfriend] and who only got "Hobbit" because of a guy she broke up with 5 years ago or something. Come
on
. I give Peter Jackson (and Lilly
and
Monaghan) more credit than that. The connection is nebulous at best Jackson just liked her work and thought she might make a really cool-looking elf which I'd agree with.
Ultimately, this post's kind of bitter misogynistic nastiness makes me feel real sympathy for actresses like Lilly, who aren't stars or trying to be, just trying to make a paycheck. Why paint her as a prostitute just because you don't like her work?
And last but not least as 'Smaug' is already a hit edging on a billion dollars once again for the franchise, I don't think PJ is worrying too much about your assessment of Tauriel. Meanwhile, the character surprised me by being my favorite new character in
Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug
I thought Lilly was perfectly cast and I liked her chemistry with her castmates.
In fact, for me, after this latest "Hobbit," she showed enough range that I'm interested to see what else she can do, and I was skeptical about her range before the film. I hope she continues to push the envelope. I like her and wish her well.
I keep thinking I'm a grownup, but I'm not. - She and Monaghan broke up in 2009. FIVE YEARS AGO, and well before "Hobbit" casting. Or "Hunger Games" for that matter (WTF? Tauriel has nothing to do with Katniss as a character in any way

You feel sorry for her, seriously? I feel sorry for Dominic that she cheated on him. FACT. Regarding The Hobbit, her character shouldn't have been it in and is a terrible actress and made a horrible elf. Cate Blanchett and Liv Tyler would shake their heads at her portrayal. A complete and utter disgrace she is.

She was great as Tauriel and almost all the critics are in agreement. As for her cheating on Dominic, how do you know it is a FACT? Please provide us with some facts that support that she was cheating because all I've seen is Dom's tweet. And even if she did what does that have to do with her role in The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug?
I think you are projecting a strange amount of dislike towards this woman because you are clearly in love with Dominic. -

Um, OK. I disagree.
I have no idea if Lilly cheated on Monaghan. I hope not, as I like both of them, but honestly? Either way, I don't really care. In terms of
her actual work on this film
, I loved it, and I thought she did an outstanding job.
I agree with many critics that as Tauriel, she's graceful and believable and a welcome addition to the Hobbit story, and a great heroine for little girls to follow. And honestly, for me it actually changed my opinion of her capabilities as a performer she moves beautifully and her accent work is really good.
So, sorry, can't agree that she is "a total disgrace."
Also, it's worth pointing out that neither Tyler or Blanchett are "shaking their heads" (LOL). It's interesting though as Liv Tyler was hardly a critical darling before proving critics wrong in LOTR, yet she came through in fine style meanwhile, both she and Blanchett have been very complimentary of Lilly and of Tauriel's addition to
The Hobbit
mythos.
So bummer for you? Hate Lilly all you want. Not everyone has to. Cheers.I keep thinking I'm a grownup, but I'm not. -

Butthurt much? You carry on and on about Dominic like he's some sort of massive A lister. Not so much. And as for him and Lilly.they have been broken up for YEARS and he has no where near the kind of pull you insinuate. He wouldn't be able to get anyone cast in a lead role in a major production.
And as for the cheating thing. He CLAIMED she cheated years after the fact. Claimed being the key word. Doesn't make it fact. You come off like some over zealous little fan boy. I'm guessing you have all of Dominic's Lord of the Rings action figures, posters and probably even a picture of him as the background on the computer. And you are a grown "man"? When you actually are mature enough to actually get laid (no offense but nothing says 30 year old virgin like super Lord of the Rings fan boy), come on back. Til then, go watch wheel of fortune with mommy -

I don't recall how long her and Dom had been broken up before she was considered for The Hobbit but it does seem like she was only dating him to further her career. Plus I don't believe there is any way she would have been considered if it wasn't for Dom. I always got a bad vibe from her like her whole personality was a facade to how she was behind the scenes. Dominic especially seemed way too good for her, so it's good he got off the train before it wrecked.
