She suffered from a Grand Mal seizure several months ago and was treated for it. SInce then she has had several petite mals and until the autoposy is performed they theory is that she had either several petite mals and one grand mal seizure and died in her sleep

It's so sudden. I was a fan but not a huge fan. But, seeing as she's my mom's favorite singer her music has creating tons of memories for me. R.I.P.

One of my all time favorite singers ever. She could play anything, she played piano, guitar and even wrote just about all of her songs. I'm still in shock, to me this is like MJ's, because he was still young at age 51. Teena was 54 years old, I can't believe it. From what I heard, her daughter found her in her bedroom, what a shame.

I am shocked and saddened by the death of Lady T. I grew up listening t5b4o her music. I remember her albums Irons in the Fire, It Must Be Magic, and Robbery being played a lot in my house when I was growing up. Teena still sounded good today. She was still recording and touring. So sad. Thanks for the music and memories Lady T!

I'm so sad! I loved Teena. "Fire & Desire" was the first song I heard of hers and since then I've been a big fan. Lady T was a great talent. She will be missed! My prayers go out to her family and loved ones esp. her beloved daughter.

I still can't believe it. I'm so glad I got to see her perform a few times. It was tough because she rarely came to the northeast. I remember back in the early 80s my then college girlfriend and I lip-synced Fire and Desire in a competition. We were up against some good competition. We were in the finals against a Bruce Springsteen group, which was big at the time. We won and half the girls, and maybe some guys, were in tears. It was one of my best college memories if not the best.

I first heard Teena Marie singing "Fire and Desire" with Rick James in the summer of '81 when I was 12 and have been a fan ever since. Her intense vocals blew me away. She was/is my favorite singer/songwriter. I can't believe she's dead! My cousin died this past October at age 53 and now Teena at 54. Michael at 50. Wth?! The older you get the more people you lose. I'm just grateful to have known about her and to have been listening to her beautiful voice and music all these years. I feel sorry for those who haven't. (But I guess fans of any artist feel that way, like those of Joy Division and I've only recently learned that such a group existed.)
Anyway, thank you for sharing your Father's gifts with the world, Teena. You inspire me to do the same. And then when my time here is over, I hope to see you on the other side!
