Yeah, Bjork was traumatized and O'Reilly walked off when they killed a donkey just for the cinematic experience.
On the other hand, Stellan Skarsgrd has appeared in six Von Trier films and German actor Udo Kier holds the record with 10 appearances.

In my opinion Von Trier has sort of turned into a troll. A lot of his recent work (Antichrist, Nympho) seems designed just to get a rise out of people and be shocking. I wouldn't be particularly thrilled if I heard he was working with her, but if it was a movie like his earlier work it could turn out well.

What about Emily Watson in Breaking the Waves? She was excellent in that. That was a great movie by Lars von Trier.

And you think that Saoirse has played many of those kinds of characters?

              My hobby horse:
Cast Saoirse as the character Hanna in a new Jason Bourne movie. Hanna has a similar background story to Bourne and I think with a good script a mash-up could be a winner. For example it was never revealed who Hanna's biological parents were.
The Players of The Game are the scum of the earth.

That sounds interesting. But wasn't the woman who have birth to Hanna her real mother? I thought they had used her egg when creating Hanna.

I can't remember whether they said they used Johanna's own egg or if she was simply a surrogate. The film was ambiguous about Hanna's biological mother, even dropping hints that it might have been Marissa Wiegler. So I think there's some wriggle room there.
All we know for sure is that Erik wasn't her biological father and the father was not named.
In my mind the ideal for a new Bourne/Hanna film would be Jason Bourne as the biological father and Nicky Parsons as the biological mother. But that would be a bit of a squeeze because of the age gap between them and Nicky being quite young when Hanna was conceived. So really the time lines don't match unless they age up Nicky by five years or so.
Although I've heard a rumour that Nicky has been killed off in the new 'Bourne' movie that is currently being made so that would make things awkward.
The Players of The Game are the scum of the earth.

There were moments in the movie when i thought Marissa could be her mother, but the idea of she donating her egg seemed weird.I am not familiar with the Bourne series, so i can't give my opinion about the matching time lines.

Astute observation Poetswan. This board's activity really started to heat up when Hanna debuted. mysteryfan was posting even before then, and jlent and I came along with some others who're still with us and post occasionally. Some of the regulars have disappeared. We had a lot of discussion about the film.
If I recall correctly, the man who wrote the script created it when he was still a writing student in college at one of the Canadian schools. Marissa
                      was
indeed her mother in the earliest version of Hanna. My guess is the producers/director probably felt audiences would have reacted negatively if she killed her mom at the end of the film.
Actually, if you changed the ending, Saoirse and Cate could've had a bunch of interesting scenes together. It might have become a more complex film in a psychological sense.

It would have been so much better with Marissa as her mother, like you said, so many interesting scenes! What a missed oportunity.
BTW Brooklyn will finally come to my town
It will premiere in only one theater, this friday, and i will be there. Thought I don't think it will get a big audience, because its the same day as the deadpool premiere.

That's great. Give me the link to your local cinema so I can check it out along with the listing. Do they have really large. screens? You've going to love seeing it on the big screen.

Thanks. Brooklyn has been here in Southeast Florida since the third week of November, and it's booked through this Thursday. I'll have to check tomorrow to see if the film retains its locations through this coming weekend and beyond.
I'd love for you to post about your experiences when you have had the chance to see in on a big screen.

That would just be really odd and out of left field. In a big movie like Bourne, tying it in with a small movie not a lot of people remember. I know it's probably just a fanfic thing you think about for fun, though.

I was going to say first that I wanted to see her in an old-fashioned romantic drama, but that's pretty much what she just did with Brooklyn. Maybe an old-fashioned screwball comedy type thing?
I could see her playing aristocratic characters frequently in the future. She seems to have the kind of face for it, especially now that she's aged.
She should stay away from the Marvel-esq blockbusters and keep doing good movies with good directors. I'd like to see her work with lots of top shelf directors like Spielberg, Eastwood, the Coens, Paul Greengrass and I'd especially like it if she becomes a Wes Anderson regular on his future films.

I think a comedy would be great and really round out her resume. She's got big dramatic theater roles coming up, in film with The Seagull and onstage in the Crucible, and a goofball role, maybe with her hero Kristen Wiig, would be wonderful.
As for royalty, I don't know if Mary Queen of Scotts is still in the picture. I just googled it and couldn't find word one about it since October 2013.
The big directors should come. They're already there. Spielberg signed off on Saoirse for his production of The Lovely Bones that Peter Jackson directed. Wes Anderson coming to see her at the New York Film Festival is a good sign of future work together though it's hard to predict that wild bird.

Ladies and Gentlemen, a few totally reasonable suggestions:

                                          • Since Helen Mirren has mentioned over and over again with that Grandma pride how much she loves Sersh and dreams of working together, same as Cate Blanchett, somebody, please get to it. There have to be at least a hundred great inter-generational dramas or comedies going around for them to play grandma-mother-daughter. And let's add Vanessa Redgrave, because of course and because Saoirse is also inheriting from her. This seems like a job for James L. Brooks or something.
                                          • Something with the McDonagh brothers.
                                          • Some people have commented that a young Hillary Clinton and Saoirse had similar looks. I read once that a movie about her early years was being developed. Whatever you might think of her, that is certainly a meaty role for her to take. I think it would work better as a HBO-style TV Movie, to get her closer to the E in that triple crown of acting.
                                          • Finally coming around to that Mary Queen of Scots movie. Fun fact, you know who played that role and Nina in

in the previous major film adaptations? Vanessa Redgrave.
                                          • Some new approach on The Troubles, that is neither clich or melodramatic.
                                          • And finally, the motherload. Did you know that over 800,000 women fought in the Soviet Army during World War II? In all branches? And that there were ace fighteb68r pilots in that bunch? Someone should adapt the stories of Yekaterina Budanova and Lydia Litvyak (links below), female Nazi killers and friends. Let's check the boxes:
                                          1. Set in World War II-
                                          2. In the criminally underrepresented Eastern Front
                                          3. Two beep strong, real female characters
                                          4. Any of which could be played convincingly by Saoirse (Lydia's face is more similar, though Yekaterina had the striking blue eyes)
                                          5. Characters who had rough upbringings and yet accomplished badass things while very young
                                          6. Characters which were also very complex and colorful
                                          7. Could lead to a sprawling series of movies on these women, including the Night Witches, who broke havoc over Nazis with obsolete biplanes
                                          8. Seriously, why hasn't this been made into a movie yet?
I guess it would be the proper thing to do to have one of them played by a Russian actress, while Saoirse could be the English-Language markets "catch". In the unlikely case some producer is snooping around here, for beep's sake, feel free to "steal" this idea as long as you make damn sure Saoirse is cast as one of these women. And also, have Katherine Bigelow or Ava Du Vernay directing.
