Hey, I have respect for a guy who worked hard to get where he is, and didn't just rely on nepotism to become successful (*cough, Nicholas Cage, *cough, Sofia Coppola, cough cough JJ Abrams).
Or maybe he was just DAMN lucky that he befriended Dustin Hoffman's kids and got introduced. Still, Hollywood (and business in general) is all about networking and who you know.

Hmm, I agree with you. I saw Second City a few years ago, and most of their skits were funnier and more talented than anything I've seen from Hollywood comedy in the past decade.
Although SNL isn't quite as good as it used to be either. The business of today just isn't interested in discovering or creating stars with real staying power. They're more about the flavour of the moment, oversaturating everyone with actors until we're sick of seeing them.

I could not agree with you more. I have made the same pledge with those same actors before, to which I add Zach Galifianakis who I might say is the least obnoxious and a bit more flexible of the bunch.
I'm glad to see someone is smart enough not to fall in this idiotic imbecile trap most people have been victim of (sadly by choice.)
Now, why are we saying this? Because there are a beep of great actors who can do the whole ''I'm an idiot act'' and switch to the ''great talented amazing act''. And THOSE are real actors and comedians not morons with luck.
The sad part is, these bunch of idiots grow up, grow a beard and start looking serious in their movies and people fall for it. They actually think they're good actors.
For a good example of what they wish they could be is:
                  John C. Reilly
-An actor is exactly as big as his imagination.-

I agree and don't watch most of the dreck they're in
I'm adding Will Ferrell to your Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler list
Also don't watch almost all of the crap they're in
Since Jerry Lewis (and maybe before) comedic actors play the same character over and over, no matter the role or character name
To me Will Ferrell is the absolute worst at this and I can't stand that single character he's driven right into the ground
Will never watch him in anything
                                As to Jonah Hill
Don't you know him am serious ack-tor now just ask him and don't mention any of his comedic roles
He'll tear you a new one
Oh and I'm never watching anything with him in it either
No matter how much weight he loses
                                He will always be fat

JH has talent enough to be a bit-part co-star in a movie. He's the next door neighbor, or the janitor, or main character's daughter's boyfriend. He has one memorable scene, you laugh a little, and he's gone.
He's perfect for that, b/c he has no real acting ability or comedy skills. You see him quick, he falls down or acts tough and quickly back to scared, and he's gone.
Why on God's Damned Earth was he put as a headliner, or as a main roll in a drama, I'll never know.

I know it wasn't him but it was funny as hell. That's the only time he has ever made me laugh.
