I don't mind him in comedies. But I wanna know how he keeps getting these serious roles. He was great in Superbad. But come on.. who here expected the fat kid with the jewfro and dirty mouth would be in big time Scorsese movies and whatnot..

Its all about bankability and having a proven track record. It also doesn't hurt when the general public and most critics think you have good comedic or dramatic chops. There are a lot of actors or actresses that I feel don't deserve all the attention they receive but that's just the way of the world. I guess all you have to do is just ignore their films.
I do understand why people think Jonah Hill is overrated but I personally have enjoyed enough of his films that I don't mind him. The nostalgia of Freaks and Geeks has fueled my enjoyment of the Apatow crew far longer then I would of anticipated. The same can not be said about Sandler thoughbut he is too easy of a punching bag for me to utter anything more then blah blah beep blah. -

I find it pretty hilarious that over two years since this thread was started Jonah has been nominated for an Oscartwice. Clearly the majority of people disagree with you. He's a very bankable star who actually challenges himself with each new role. He can pull off comedy and drama with ease and will have a bright future because of it. I wish people would not judge him and maybe just be happy for his success. He really has a great underdog story as I'm sure nobody after having seen him in Superbad (not that he wasn't great in it) would have thought this guy would be a two time Oscar nominee at such a young age. Bravo for him!

His name and face annoy me. He is a steaming pile. I know actors read this and add me to the legion of movie/tv watchers that hate this guy.. I MIGHT piss on him if he was on fire but don't ask me to do more than that.

Totally agree with the OP. There isn't a less talented, less funny actor in the industry these days. Plus he's an insecure, unintelligent douche in real life. His interview on Howard Stern made me hate him even more.
I'm a loud and proud Jonah Hill hater. -

I know this post is Old but really glad to find that someone speaks the truth just as it is.
Totally agree with you on every point.
How Jonah Hill even got off the bus in Hollywood is one of those "alien" mysteries that will never be answered.
If I wanted to see people like him, I would hang out at the ice cream shop or walmart. No Talent and he always acts like he has no clue just how annoying he is. I avoid ANY movie with him in it.
While his role in Wolf of Wall street was probably true to life, they should have just written it out to keep us from having to hear, see or be insulted by his Gross presence.
His voice is as annoying as he is physically.
Jonah hill deserves nothing. Nothing.
